The biggest problem/conspiracy in modern medicine never gets mentioned... Quantity vs Quality. We've done a really good job at extending life, but very little progress towards the quality of life in those advanced years.
Keeping elderly (85+) alive for years while withering away in a nursing home isn't living, but every day they don't die is another day they consume a cocktail of pharmaceuticals.
