Maybe they are two different viruses?
I got one last week that made me feel like someone was constricting my chest. It's been going around. Still feeling it.

Pollens are low but maybe you are developing an allergy to something?

Did the inhaler help your cough on the previous occasion? Is your cough worst at night? Did you have asthma or eczema as a child? Do any of your children have asthma or eczema? Did anyone in the house have a recent viral upper respiratory syndrome? How old are you?

The most common thing I see doing this is cough variant asthma and it is pretty easy to treat. Need to make sure nothing is triggering it. BTW, I am a pulmonologist.

1. Go to doc, get or schedule x-ray
2. See what the x-ray shows

I had basically the same thing as you earlier this year. X-rays revealed masses in my lung.

You know what that means: Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia.

Now, seven months later, I'm at the tail end of prednisone therapy to eliminate the lung masses.

Get the x-rays a.s.a.p. Gotta do it. And good luck.

Haven't been prescribed an inhaler. At this point, I believe an inhaler would be beneficial for me.

Varies. Last night, yes. Previous night, no. Can have violent coughing attacks through the day as well.

No.

No.

Both my children had a cough, but only after I had mine. Can't say for sure they caught it from me. There's has since gone away. Mine hasn't.

39. Don't smoke, don't hang around people that smoke.

appreciate your help. Do you have a practice in Baton Rouge? I'm flying in today and can meet you tomorrow or possibly late this afternoon. Give a fellow OT'er a schedule break to fit me in.

The worst case Scenerio is lung cancer. Start by eliminating that as a possibility. Quit being a stubborn arse and listen to your body. Go to doctor and have them figure this out.

I'm going to the doctor. No doubt. I was very stubborn at first, but whatever I have has won for the time being and what I have done is not working.

Do you take blood pressure meds by chance. I had a bad cough winter before last that I couldnt shake. It got so bad and deep that I gave myself a hernia. Nothing on Chest x rays. Turns out it was my BP meds. I changed and it got better over the next couple of weeks. That was an expensive and painful cough.

News reported a new virus in the SE that cause the symptoms you have. Mention that to your doc. One symptom is the breathing issue being the add on to the common cold symptoms.

I'm in the EXACT same situation right now.

Started late July, was very productive at first, went dry, and is now productive again. Violent coughing spells hit me at random.

I had antibiotics prescribed but they didn't really help much.

OP, do you feel a strange sensation in your nose/sinus area when you lean forward, or like a bad taste in your mouth?

Absolutely, gimme that fine woman.

Did you start taking any new meds? Some medications can cause that from ADs, anxiety, BP meds.

No bad taste. When I'm not having a coughing spell, I feel fine (when coughs were dry). Today, I can tell I am starting to get congested.

You've seen pictures of her, she will cost you another arm and a leg.

No new medications. Not taking any anti-depressants, even though I remain married, anxiety or blood pressure medication.
