Cancun Resort Recommendations

Thinking about going in July or August... Never been before. Where should I stay? Is it fairly safe? Best places to check out? Thanks.

We stayed at the omni.
The whole town was trashy though.
If not getting shithoused in bars...not all that special.
For the money, spend triple on your plane ticket and less than half on your stay and rent a villa in st. Johns
Only 2-300 more for a week.

Just got back from there, stayed at Live Aqua, its all-inclusive. Had a great time, would recommend checking it out!

Unless you're relatively young and going with a group of friends to just party and get hammered, I don't know why you'd go to Cancun. Over priced and there are plenty of better tropical vacation spots.

We went to Playa del Carmen(about 40 minutes from Cancun). Not as "Americanized" as Cancun.
ETA: July and August will be really hot and humid there.

If you're looking for all inclusive the Fiesta Americana Condesa is great.

I'm staying at the Grand Fiesta Americana Cancun next week for my work party. I can't comment on it yet, but my company has never picked a bad spot, so it's probably worth looking into.
