I have a friend whose father is battling stage 4 liver cancer. She found this out shortly after she was engaged. He's been told he doesn't have long to live. They're rushing to prep the wedding so that he can still be here for it. Such a terrible situation and so sad.

His dream has always been to go to Alaska to see the Northern Lights. She is trying to surprise him with a trip there, and has started a gofundme. I'll provide a link, but that's not what this thread is about. I'm not trying to spam the board and if admins would like, I'll remove the link.

One of my best friends got colon cancer 2 years ago at 34. After a bunch of surgery and chemo he was declared cancer free 9 months later. My dog also died 3 years ago from cancer and he was a 7 yr old Boston Terrier, it fricking broke me up. Those are my only 2 experiences with it but I agree, frick cancer!

Yup. Took my cousin way too early in her life. Cancer and Alzheimer's are the absolute worst.

A good friend of mine and a couple other posters is kicking ovarian cancer's arse at the moment. 37 with two beautiful little girls. Her strength has been inspiring, and I know it beats the shite out of her on a daily basis.

I'd almost rather cancer than Alzheimer's. That's got to be the worst, seeing a loved one with no idea who you are. They're both absolutely awful.

Mother-in-law at 47 was diagnosed with stage 4 lung (adenocarcinoma with pleural effusion) told her 2-6 months. (Never took a drag of a cigarette) She chose to fight it with chemo, only eating organic food, juicing everyday, and drinking some weird disgusting drink called Haleen or something like that. (Looked like pea soup) she never threw up and never lost her hair during chemo. It's been 2 1/2 years now and she's cancer free. Always fear it comes back, but she's healthier than ever and is getting to see her grandchildren grow up.

One thing that many people don't really understand is how painful cancer is, any kind. The pain can be almost unbearable. Then, add to that the different reactions to chemo, most of which also involve some form of pain or another. I've lost both parents, a sister, and a wife, and all 4 suffered beyond belief. There is no disease worse, my opinion.

MIL was incredibly weak towards the last couple of rounds. Like needed help getting out of bed week. Luckily it only lasted 3-5 days though. Worked right through it too.

If anyone has a loved one with cancer, tell them to be as healthy as possible. Not a Chinese herbologist supporter by any means, but it makes sense. Chemo kills cancer cells as well as just about everything else. Eating like a health nut gives your body all the vitamins it needs to rebuild itself stronger. Really think it played a big part.

And damn, I'm sorry to hear about your losses Keltic. You get first dibs if we ever get a chance to kick the shite out of it.
