Can protests be used as a gauge of someone's stupidity?

Hear me out on this before you trash it.
Protests don't do jack shite in today's world besides either get ignored or piss people off. Neither of which helps the cause. You never see doctors and lawyers and CPAs protesting, it's always the lowest rung of society out there taunting cops and being idiots in general. The people supporting society also don't have the time or desire to go waste their time marching across half a city and standing on a street corner.
Now, with that said, I fully support their right to assemble, assuming it is done peacefully and does not disrupt the normal flow of the city. It's a great freedom in our country, but at the end of the day, it never does jack shite and people just end up looking like fools on national TV.
So, would you agree that attendance at protests can be used as a meter to gauge the most unintelligent 'tards dwelling among us?
I say yes.

Tell that to every person who protested for pot to legalized.
But yeah, I will admit that there are some people who protest some pretty stupid shite and 99 percent of the time nothing is gonna change.

I've never been to a protest so I couldn't tell you.

I'm not saying there aren't exceptions. There are exceptions for everything. Gay marriage and pot being the biggest two, but we see how much the abortion march in DC does every year. Nothing at all. Pot still isn't recreationally legal in most places, so even that isn't a resounding success just yet. Overall, it's a fruitless waste of time and resources.

Yea that MLK guy never accomplished anything from protests... Are most people wasting their time? Yea, but the OP is a pretty simplistic world view. Why do we bother doing anything that doesn't lead to a tangible result? Why volunteer? Why give small amounts to charity?

In this case, yes. I have yet to figure out what it is that these protesters are trying to accomplish.

Two years ago In Ukraine they overthrew an authoritarian government
Here's the thing, though. It has to be a cross section of the community, not just twentysomethings with time on their hands. When the mawmaws and Joe the Barber are out there, it gains traction. It has to be in the thousands or tens of thousands, not just hundreds.
And it has to be disciplined. You can't flinch, you can't run, when they douse you with pepper spray, when they turn the firehose on you, when they set the dogs on you. When they drag you away, when they put you in the hospital, when they kill you, more have to step up and take your place.
When people tried to sit in at segregated lunch counters, when they tried to march across the Edumnd Pettus bridge, they were wearing suits and dresses like they were going to church. Their behavior was impeccable. And some of them were hurt badly and some of them died. But the public was revulsed at the sight of innocent people being attacked for doing nothing wrong, and they ultimately won.
