Tell me more about this spiritual manor, please.

In other words, I don't mind a Bible or Religion class on the schedule and maybe a chapel once per week. I just don't want all that fire and brimstone and speaking in tongues. I want my son to have a relationship with God but don't need the over the top stuff that these churches are known for. And they won't get one dime over tuition payments from me.

I am not talking about anyone specifically. It just seems to be the pattern with these guys.

He is NOT a protege. He actually left HPC years back cause he didn't like how it all became about money.

You're right. I think you have to spend 21 years under someone to be considered a protege.
Sure they weren't about the $ when HPC used $ to plant his church.

Was he literally 'under him?' That seems odd.

I've been there twice. The first time, they didn't take too kindly to my public accusation of open slavery still occurring there. The second time it went somewhat smoother as I dressed like a Scotsman and kept a low profile.

1) no you didn't do any of that

2) hypothetically, if you did anything close to what you say you did.... How ridiculously weird and lame a person are you?

My father-in-law attends the church from time to time, and he is not a fire and brimstone kind of guy - or if he is he's not vocal about it. He seems to like the church. FWIW - I will say that the church fed my mom and step-dad and gave them a nice amount of supplies during the flood.

These two statements cancel each other out. Tongues, and fire and brimstone are actually in the bible, sorry of that makes you uncomfortable. I knew Stermer years ago and really liked him. He now has politics lifted up in the pulpit, which is not in the bible. Also unlike HPC in this way. If you think Obama is the anti-christ, like much of the OT, then he might be your guy.

I tell you what, Stermer and his Church has been absolutely phenomenal with flood relief. They're Pentecostal, so yeah, there's going to be fire and brimstone.
I coached at CLA back when Clayton and LeFors were there and Doc Melilli is one of the finest men I've ever known. He trusted the wrong people at times and finances have been a struggle for many years, but I'm surprised this is happening. I've heard his son has been running everything into the ground, so maybe this is why. The Church of St Amant are good people though, have a niece and nephew in first grade at their school and everything I've heard is extremely positive.

You're Catholic and you send your kid to a school run by religious nut jobs?? Get your kid into a Catholic school and let him pray to Mary like normal people.

Who is my mother and my brother?

Woman what am I to do with thee?

Two things Jesus said to his mother, same person that Catholics pray to. Mary (or saints) can't hear your prayers btw.

Only way to the Father is through me.. Something else Jesus said.

Read your Bibles, don't just listen to the priest/religion.

I don't attend the church or I care for healing place types of churches, but if you don't want a spiritual atmosphere at church, you probably need to check your faith.

That being said, anything to bring someone to Christ is what matters, whether I disagree with some smaller issues is another story.

Let's just get this thread anchored and over with. There is only one Christian religion.

Umm, the Catholic church put together the writings that compose today's Bible. For a couple hundred years before the Bible, there was only the Church (and not the one in St Amant).

quote:

18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
