yea from $800ish to $500-$600ish. pretty shitty, but not as bad as I thought since mt gox was pretty damn big.
BTC hit a low of $400 last night on BitStamp.

So, losing 50% of its value is not as bad as you thought it would be? What did you expect?

Why do you ask that?

I never said you "proclaimed genius status."

I just wrote you claim to be very knowledgeable about bitcoin.

Are you now saying you're not very knowledgeable about bitcoin and if that is what you're now saying, why should anyone put any value into what you say about bitcoin?

I never did, you're inferring a lot from my statement that I know more than you.

that is significant. it means most people that bought in in the past year are panicked and selling.

has it bounced back to 600 already? if so, somebody either has extreme confidence in it, or they are manipulating the exchanges.

You bitcoinistas need to get together on your stories.

Last night joshnorris14 was preaching on the Money Talk Board that MtGox was small compared to the other bitcoin exchanges so it shutting down was no big deal.

haven't read the thread but heard a sound byte that 3 quarters of a million dollars worth of bitcoin came up missing?

It's actually 3/4 of a million bitcoins according to this:

LINK

You can do the math, but even at the crashed MtGOX price of $100 per, thats a good bit to come up "missing" as the link shows. Coinbase is currently at $525 each...yup thats about $400mil

I respect your honesty. I guess that's the reason I just don't find much value in them. I don't travel overseas at all, don't even know what type of things I could find on a black market, hell, recently just found out what a Silk Road is. Just not made for a hick from TN.

On a side note, I wish more of the bitcoin faithful would reveal their true intentions in these threads, as I suspect many of them are only in it for profit, and could give a shite about the cryptology of it all. One thing I always enjoyed about Wiki, he believed in the science behind it all.

No, low $500's.

On the Money Talk Board last night I mentioned there was a strange trading pattern occurring on BitStamp where someone was buying and then selling almost the same amount of btc within seconds of each transaction. A few minutes would go by and it would happen again. That went on for about 30 minutes.

Everytime the price would hit $400-$405, they would buy in a big buy order and then sell at $406-408 but gradually selling, not all at one time with one order.

I posted that it appeared to me someone was trying to stabilize the price of btc at $400 by manipulating the market with their relatively large orders.

I don't own any and I always find these threads fascinating, but a buddy of mine that's heavy into buttcoins said he noticed the same thing. Someone or multiple people are very scared and trying to manipulate the price.
