Title says it all. My thoughts are unless they pull a yellowfin and somehow get this on my credit report, why on earth would I pay this?

This would be tricky. The rental company might hit you with a fine. The ticket goes to the plate which is in effect the rental company who has your credit card on file.
I once got a written warning in a rental and was then fined by the rental
Company for it, even though it cost them
Nothing. My arguments went un given a frick about

Some companies in New Orleans will turn it over to collection agencies. Next stop credit report.

a letter from lawyer would likely kill any try at reporting it to credit. I never agreed to pay anything.

If I had a dollar for every time someone has asked this I still wouldn't pay mine..

How did they justify that?

now, the rental car agreement is another matter.
More than likely its part of the contract

The rental company is going to make you pay since they own the vehicle.

No. I don't pay them and I'm in the city all of the time

Can I get a frick no in this piece? If you pay it you're a fool.

IIRC, the ones I get come from Vegas or somewhere out west. I just throw them away, so I can't remember

The difference here is that this one is from a vehicle he doesn't own. So the ticket is going to be sent to the owner. And the owner is going to pass this along to the verified driver.
He can choose not to pay, but he's going to be dealing with the rental car company for failure to pay...not the city. Since the rental company has your CC on file and you likely signed a verification to additional charges, if the OP didn't pay they'd just charge his card for the amount.

IDK about Orleans but I got one a few years ago in EBR. Ticket was sent to my parent's house, they put the envelope in my room along with the hundreds of other mail I've gotten nearly all of which was junk mail. I never went through it.
3 years later I'm pulled over on suspected dui (wasn't inebriated in any way). Cop gives me the whole nine yards trying to see if I'm drunk, when that fails he tells me I'm going to jail on a bench warrant for a traffic ticket. Which I did.
America

The rental company is just going to charge your card. It sucks but that is how they handle it.

I just don't see how this is legal. You never signed a ticket or a certified letter stating you received the ticket. I think someone should go all the way through the court system fighting these bullshite tickets.
If I lived somewhere with cameras I would smudge dirt or grease over my plate number.
