The YouTube comments are pretty good

Land mines suck. As an atheist and Reddit user, I believe we should airdrop fedoras all over the world to encourage others to seek the twin achievments of humanity; enlightenment and atheism.?

Gotcha, seems it was them and other groups they were fighting

I know who pol pot is.
I've been to the killing fields.

Heard it is a pretty sombering place for obvious reasons. Had a chance to go to Cambodia with my then gf's family. They had escaped the KR leaving their son behind. They went back every year to try and find whether he was dead or alive. I felt odd about going with them due to the personal nature. Years after we broke up they told me their dad hardly ever talked about that time with anyone and oddly did so with me. Looking back I feel bad about not going with him.

Wow. That is pretty heavy stuff. I don't blame you for not going. It seems like it would be a difficult trip. You'd want to see cool stuff and they would be looking for their son.

Yeah, I'll pull up some pics. If you are into war and history it's something that you'd love.

It's hard to imagine what terrible things happened in this otherwise serene place. So many people were murdered for no reason by the KR regime. You pay to get in, then they give you a headset with audio tour. Then you can just wander around slowly and contemplate.

All the pits in the ground are mass graves that were discovered and exhumed:

This one is awful but the sign says it all. They tried to kill people as quickly and efficiently as possible. Which often meant blunt force rather than bullets.

This is a center pagoda where all the exhumed bones in the area are stored:

The skulls are classified by approximate age, gender, and method of death:

All in all it was a morbidly interesting place to visit.

Don't feel too safe.

Those mines are throughout the country. Ours, the NVA and the KR.

Some of us here wish the timing of your visit would have been earlier.....

Kidding.

Did you make it to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum?

Meh. The Khmer Rouge were some kind of ruthless bastards. They'd have killed errybody if long left to their business. They were already starting to turn on themselves.
