Calvine & Hobbes is the single greatest comic strip of all time. Period. It is at once accessible to the young while simultaneously being philosophical and contemplative. And it is hilarious.

Li'l Abner is the greatest American comic strip. Calvin & Hobbs and Bloom County are a distant second and third.

Scruffy loved Far Side, and it is one of the GOAT, but C&H is the far and away front runner.

The cartoon I miss the most is "The Far Side".

Me too.

Check out Perry Bible Fellowship. It's a bit darker and more depraved, but it has an absurdist quality to it that reminds me of Far Side

Steve Dallas was my nom de guerre for many years of prowling the bars. But at 44, I'm more of an Uncle Duke, (Doonesbury), these days.

Sure do. It's second in my book only to Calvin & Hobbes.

I went through a bunch of the cartoons you linked on the Perry Bible Fellowship. Pretty damned good. Thanks.

stout was right, I like Cyanide and Happiness.

Here's one of my favorite Far Side cartoons. It always made me laugh:

soccerfüt, Larson was so great. I would buy The Washington Post every morning just to see his work.
