No shite. A firing squad would cost less than a couple hundred including salaries and bullets.

Exactly how was his death sentence thrown out to begin with?

His initial defense ranged from "the drugs made me do it" to "rap music made me do it".

His appeals have revolved around his previous attorney losing his father during his penalty phase and his other attorneys being incompetent. One of his previous attorneys passed away. You can't appeal for twenty plus years and get away with every attorney being as bad as the previous one.

Yeah, frick that guy.
My brother was working at the Calendars near the gates, but would float to Perkins when needed...he knew the victims.

Remember Mom thought it was his store when news hit...she was in shambles till he called.

frick that guy.

I understand a need for time to appeal, but 20 fricking years?

Once they stick that needle in his arm, the only further cost is the funeral.

With the internet news blasting every murder of note nationwide, we are somewhat desensitized to crime now. This was event was shocking. Not simply a robbery or crime of passion gone bad, but just a planned execution of the staff stopped short only by issues with the weapon.

Most everyone at LSU filtered through a calendar's restaurant at least once, and everyone knew folks that waited tables at places around campus. It made you stop and wonder about the freaks we might be encountering and never know it.

I knew Stephanie professionally. Excellent person, horrible crime.

The next morning, or perhaps the following morning, WJBO somehow had Stephanie's 911 call and played it on the air. I wish I hadn't heard it. It was harrowing and still sneaks up on me when I'm trying to go to sleep. He had no mercy.

I pray for her poor heartbroken family.

Please, justice system, kill the POS now.

I heard it on the news wafb I believe. I can still hear her say "oh shite" when he shot her. They should have never played that on news/radio broadcasted to any and everyone.

The police claimed that they had released the audio in order to let Weisinger's friends and family know that he was a cold blooded murderer and should be turned in. I never agreed with that plan. It was the reward that made his friends turn him in when he tried to hide in Texas.

Calendar's Plantation Salad with their homade honey mustard and Nachos were killer good.

Their honey mustard was the best. I used to always get the Calendars Club with their honey mustard.

They never should have reopened after that. How could you enjoy a meal there knowing that had happened there

To this day, I wish I had their honey mustard recipe. In the years since, no one has matched it.

At the time of the horrible crime, I was living a few minutes away. We went a lot to support the place but it was doomed.

Stephanie babysat me as a kid, same time frame working at Calendar's.
Her murder was my 1st memory of tragic death. It stuck with me all these years. Especially given that I worked almost 2 years there (Coursey, not Perkins) in college as well.

Then we need to find a way to streamline the process.
