I'm looking at buying a used GMC Sierra that is certified used from GM. The car appears to be in really good shape but I am always leery of used vehicles. I know this is the OT and everyone buys new but help a poor ole baw out with any experiences you have had.

Buying used is actually the preferred method of purchase on the OT.

I know right, who would think that all these multi millionaires would be buying used cars on the reg.

Did it with Lexus. Great car, not cheap but that car is still running 12 years later. However much better built. Not sure about GMC products due to build quality.

I don't understand the value of certified? Seems like it's a marketing thing.

Rarely ever buy new, that's stupid unless you get a great incentive deal like my wife did in the VW TDI buyback. Certified or lightly used cars are definitely the way to go. A helluva lot cheaper and still under warranty.

The warranty typically. Most are good rides for fair numbers. With the cost of new these days it is a good option in my opinion.

I believe the gm certified sticker is crap, I bought a Z71 that was certified years ago after first oil change it started smoking, boring 60 over wouldn't fix the cracks so had to put a new motor in almost new truck

That's what I've what's understood it to basically mean, you'll get a much better warranty with the certified pre-owned rather than what you'd get from Ace's Rent to Own.

I never buy a used vehicle. Unless you are dirt poor and buying an old car for a couple grand.

I mean, how much money are you really saving by buying this certified used vehicle? A few grand? It's not worth it. Especially with the markdowns that GM offers on prior year vehicles.

*Also never buy the extended warranty that the salesman tries to get you to buy.

I have a certified pre-owned Yukon. Best vehicle I've ever owned. No problems whatsoever.

If you can afford a certified GMC SIERRA then you can afford a new one.

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, take advantage of rebates. If GMC isn't competitive go to Chevrolet. Same truck

Which means you got it for about 8k less than if you would have bought it new.
NO ONE pays sticker price for full size GM or Ford trucks.
The standard markdown is 10-12k off sticker price almost year round

That was probably valid advice in the days when the cars being sold did not have electronic systems that rival the space shuttle. If you are going to keep a car beyond the standard warranty the drive train is the least of your worries, power heated seats, navigation packages, blu tooth systems, auto dimming lights, back up cameras, steering wheels with more control buttons than the stick in a F15, etc. This stuff will wear out/ fail, and it is expensive to repair or replace.

Well I prefer those to be certified pre-owned.

Bought my wife a CPO Lexus suv for same price as new forerunner. Just got a CPO Tundra. Very pleased with both deals at price LeBlanc. Got extended warranty on the tundra, added about $15 per payment, love that peace if mind bc there's only 12 more months left on the bumper to bumper that covers all the electro bells & whistles that break. Previous truck was a 2007 ford, if that tells u anything...
