If you've ever negotiated and bought a car from a dealership over the internet and had it shipped, I'm interested to hear how it went for you.

I want a very specific make/model that happens to be rare around BR (thinking partially due to the flooding).

I didn't actually purchase over the internet, but I did do all of the negotiations, etc. there and it worked marvelously...I was actually able to search inventories and picked the exact vehicle that I wanted to buy and then picked the dealership that I wanted to deal with.

I did the whole deal via internet and then just went to the dealership to sign papers and drive the vehicle home. the whole thing worked marvelously well.

I've done it a number of times (3). Twice with a new car - and once with a used one. Both new cars came from Houston (I am in Shreveport) and the used one from Scottsdale, AZ. Got a good deal on the first one - a 2006 BMW M3, and great deals on the other two (2003 M5 - used) and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The JGC was the best deal I've ever worked on a new car. Got that one from a group buy put together on an internet forum. Dealer invoice minus 7%. Cost me $350 to get it delivered to S'port. Signed documents using FedEx overnight and wired $$. I had the car three days after it rolled off the transport to the dealer. Salesman knew how to work a remote deal.

Did it recently. Negotiated a price, called my bank and gave them the heads up that a dealer would be calling (gave info), my bank sent the paperwork via email, I flew to DAL 2 days later, dealer picked me up, signed two pieces of paper and went on my way.

was a specific model and saved about $5K. Airline ticket and gas was about $250 cheaper than having it shipped.

Bought my truck from carvana.com in the Spring and had an almost unbelievably simple process and had not problems whatsoever.
