21 years ago my fiancée wanted a sapphire instead of a diamond. My wife now wants a diamond ring now in place of sapphire. I just need the stone alone. Would like somewhere between .65 and 1.0 carat. Went to reputable jeweler and was shown.65 diamond for 1250.00. It looked beautiful but what do I know. To set 75.00... and repair band (needs extension/yellow gold) 250.00. So the whole thing would be over 1600.00 including tax. Assuming that the diamond itself is descent quality... is 1600.00 a reasonable amount to pay for diamond this size?

Any advice would be appreciated. I don't need a perfect diamond. I cant afford it. All I need is something nice that wont cost a fortune.

I know there is someone out there that knows a lot more about this than I do. Thx.

I have experience with blue Nile. And I'll give your wife the perfect diamond you can't.

Yep. Very legit and competitive pricing. They are also a good source of information. Diamonds come with the certification papers and an appraisal that is typically higher than the cost. This is useful for insurance purposes.

If you came to me in person and said your wife wanted a new diamond but you couldn't afford it, I'd tell you the same thing.
