A contractor broke a water main. Not good at all.
I wonder how that works as far as restitution, it's a lot more than fixing the line. You have what is already one of the busiest intersections in the metro area, and now you have to have police work it for days directing traffic.
Real messed up all around.

Kenner, LA. – The broken water main in the intersection of Williams and Veterans boulevards has been repaired, temporary asphalt has been put down and all traffic controls have been removed, officials said. The work was completed at approximately 6 a.m., in time for the morning rush-hour. The asphalt road surface is a temporary repair only. Officials with the state Department of Transportation and Development have said permanent repairs will be scheduled after the holidays. A 12-inch water line was accidentally ruptured at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday by a crew doing fiber optic work in the intersection. Initial repair estimates called for the intersection to remain largely closed to traffic at least through Thursday, but crews were able to expedite temporary repairs overnight.

Metairie isn't even incorporated. It's just a region of Jefferson parish.
Also Kenner has a lot less millage in the Parish with more services so.
Kenner >>> Metairie.

That only works if you're going to the airport from NOLA. If you're local you travel the surface streets, particularly Kenner and the western half of Metairie.
If you're travelling east bound, you have to exit Williams and take a right onto Veterans to access the Airport Access Road or exit on 310 to Airline Hwy.
