Any advice on which is the best bank/credit union to go to for a construction loan?

Smaller the bank, the better. I know several people who used Sicily Island State Bank and had zero issues and the process was seamless.

My wife and I have friends that built using First American Bank and had zero issues

Feliciana Bank in Clinton. Going through them now and you wouldn't believe how easy it is. They will do a zero down construction loan with a high enough credit score.
