I added this to the OP, but I think the issue now become whether or not the state will re-raise the flag. Whatever the reason was, it was a brilliant way to force the issue - as the state seemed like they were just trying to ignore all the backlash and hope it would just quiet down and fade away.

If you was really that brave why did not she not stay up and not just come down and goto jail

The next Rosa Parks. Print the history books.

Am I supposed to know who this is, or is she only famous for defacing government property?
Didn't have enough room in the title to add that she's an actress, singer, writer, etc...
And didn't feel the need to include "black girl" since I included pics.
But no, I don't suppose you'd know who she is. But you will now.

The gold ones?

Welp, she'll be rich. If I was black and lived in South Carolina, I'd be pissed I didn't think of it first.

Because that defeats the purpose of what she was doing. It would have become a spectacle of police removing a girl from a flagpole, instead of about a girl climbing it to remove a flag - knowing she was going to go to jail.
She knew she was going to jail. Pointless to "stay up there".

Never heard of her before, not googling her now

You won't have to. I'd imagine she'll be a household name before too long.

She's no Rosa Parks
Will likely be celebrated in a similar fashion by many. Maybe not to the extent Parks was, but she'll definitely have a spotlight, IMO.

You folks mocking her for "ending racism" are attacking a straw man. The point was clearly to remove, however temporarily, a state-sanctioned symbol that a large subset of individuals have a problem with.

She'll be forgotten in less than a month

Bingo.
Lots of triggered simpletons in this thread so far.
I'll be interested to see how long it stays down.

why didn't she just lower it?
And she's wearing a harness while trying to make her brave statement? pussy
They said last week it didn't have rope on it to lower it. That's why it stayed high when all the other flags were at half mast.

Yup.
And the next move is on the state of South Catolina, with the eyes of many on them.

Symbols are important. In fact, that's why you are reacting with defensiveness and enmity -- the symbol means something to you, too.
