BRAVE contracts tied to mayor's administration suspended

The contracts in question are tied to controversial deals made with Mayor Sharon Weston Broome's administration. The contracts are part of a group that have been questioned since contract values are under amounts that don't require metro council approval. The issue was the focus of a WBRZ Investigative Unit report on Monday.
At least one of the contracts in question was given to a person on the mayor's transition team after she won the mayoral election last year.
The specific ones suspended have not been released.
Any future contracts will have to be reviewed and approved by the mayor and authorized by her or the city's chief administrative officer.

I don't live in BR, but I read enough here about the mayor. It seems like her whole campaign is shady shite and her plan is to just say I didn't know and it's been corrected.

This is Council on Aging 2.0...
- Commit fraudulent (or ethically-lacking) activity
- Get caught performing said activity
- Deflect to: 1. These are false accusations 2. Reference good being done for entity 3. We didn't know this was bad but we promise not to do it again
- More instances of ethically-lacking activity arise
- Cancel contracts, remove names, and say "hey we good now?"

- Get caught performing said activity

I have zero faith in anything major happening if bad deals are found. The problem is this will probably fire up her base more.

I could maybe see the mayor not knowing about some of these contracts but how can the person in charge of the BRAVE program not know about these contracts?

Well if she misappropriated Federal funds the US attorney could get involved. The current US attorney for the middle district is an acting. Maybe he wants to audition for the job full time?
