Officials: Reward up to $22,500 for info on Alex Deaton

quote:

The FBI has added $20,000 to the reward money offered for a suspect in two Mississippi homicides and a non-fatal shooting.

Alex Bridges Deaton, 28, is wanted in the shooting of a jogger early Friday morning and is a suspect in the death of his girlfriend, 30-year-old Heather Robinson.

The purse is now up to $22,500 after the $2,500 offered by CrimeStoppers. Officials said it could continue to grow.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said police still aren't releasing a motive on why Deaton would have killed Robinson, whose cause of death was determined to be strangulation.

"Something inside him appears to have snapped," Bailey said.

In a press conference Monday, officials said Deaton was in Tulsa, Oklahoma over the weekend.

Deaton has a concealed carry permit and is believed to be in possession of several handguns, officials said. He is wanted for aggravated assault and murder. Bailey said Deaton is not only a threat to the public, he's a threat to law enforcement

Officials have executed warrants on Robinson's apartment, Deaton's home, and Deaton's truck. He has had a short conversation and exchanged texts with his mother. That was Saturday, officials said.

Here's the odd timeline.

5 a.m. - Woman jogging in Castlewoods Country Club is shot in leg by man in white SUV. She runs to high end nursing home in the country club and seeks help.

All day we heard about this woman being shot.

Then about 2 p,m., a welfare check on this guys girlfriend that did not show up to work- discovered strangled to death. Her white SUV with nurses tag is missing.

At 4 p.m., this woman goes to clean a church an hour away and she is found dead by her husband about 6 p.m. A white SUV is seen leaving the area.

None of the three are related and he only appeared to have a relationship with the girlfriend.

His cell phone has been pinging in Tulsa, Oklahoma and he sent his mom a lengthy text. This baw has a concealed carry permit and owns a couple dozen guns. If he hasn't offed himself in the woods yet, there's likely to be a fight if he is apprehended.

Man this week I had to go to Jackson for work. I went to a Walmart in Ridgewood, and holy frick there is some ugly arse overweight black folks there.

You were in the transient zone. Nearly all the residents of that area live in apartments and it has gone to shite over the past 10 years. The other side of Ridgeland is really nice and just runs into Madison, one of the best suburbs in the South.

Assuming he is the guy in the church murder, I think he was either in Neshoba county to hide out in a place he was familiar with or at least went through there to try to obtain some resources on his way out of state. Not sure why/how he encountered the lady at the church, unless he was trying to see what he could find in there and she happened to get there while he was there.

Carjacked a couple in NM and shot at least one. Conflicting stories between tv and online reports. The victim(s) have non-life threatening injuries.

Suppose he may be trying to make it to old Mexico. Maybe the cartels will get him.

Never underestimate the resourcefulness of a redneck from the SE USA, particularly if they are traveling alone. That being said, if he is now in Kansas he's screwed up big time. Should've kept going south while he had the chance.

A pledge brother of mine at Ole Miss in our GroupMe group, just said he grew up with this homey

He said he went to military school in middle school because he was a shithead, but straightened up in HS and beyond.

Said - "He sold us our ATT Family Plan. Never thought this was possible"

Based on the updated reports, several people fortunate to be alive:

LINK

quote:

Authorities from Kiowa and Pratt County engaged in a pursuit involving a vehicle that had been reported stolen from a location in New Mexico.

The vehicle was later abandoned by the suspect, who ran to a convenience store located on the west side of Pratt. The suspect entered the store where he shot a clerk before stealing a vehicle from the parking lot.

The stolen vehicle is described as a black, Cadillac CTS bearing Kansas license plate 013JVR.

The suspect in this case has been tentatively identified as Alex Bridges Deaton. Deaton is wanted for a homicide occurring in Mississippi and a robbery and shooting in New Mexico.

Anyone who sees either the black Cadillac or Deaton is urged to contact law enforcement immediately. Deaton is deemed armed and extremely dangerous.

According to Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey, murder suspect, 28-year-old Alex Deaton, has been spotted near Albuquerque, New Mexico early Tuesday night.

According to our affiliate station KOB, around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night Deaton forced a couple into the trunk of the woman's car around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near the La Luz Trailhead.

The couple escaped from the trunk but the male victim was shot. Deputies are saying he is in stable condition.

Deputies are saying that Deaton then held the woman at gunpoint and the two entered a nearby home. Deaton asked the people inside the home for keys to a van.

They complied, and Deaton and the woman drove off down Forest Road 333. According to deputies, at the intersection of Highway 556, the woman escaped the van and made her way to a Bernalillo County Fire Marshal in the area.

She had superficial wounds, was treated and has been released.

Deputies say Deaton made his way back to the scene of the kidnapping earlier and got inside the couple's car, a 2001 white Honda Accord with New Mexico license place MNF884.

Deaton was last seen driving northbound on Interstate 25 near Algodones.
