I would rather send them on the Plank road tour someone earlier suggested.

I was going to suggest the National Hansen’s Disease Museum but its closing 11/02/23 for renovations.

Maybe some of the local plantations?

I'm the OP of this thread and thought I'd follow up. Unfortunately, I didn't have near as much time as I was expecting to have and that greatly limited what I could do. I did go to Pastime (first time ever) and enjoyed a roast beef poboy, fries, and a beer. The food was excellent and the man who took my order (I'm guessing he's the owner or manager) was very friendly. I'm glad I went and I plan to go back again in future visits. My wife and I also had lunch at Louie's Cafe and it was very good. The hash browns were exactly like I remembered them.

On Christmas morning, I went to LSU campus and walked around for a while and took a lot of pictures (was wanting to try out a new camera that I got).

I had planned to go to Old State Capitol and Rural Life Museum but did not make it to either.

Louie’s is open.. they closed for covid and reopened but limited hours due to staffing shortage. Decided to stay with new hours ..they open for breakfast and close at two in the afternoon..

The dairy store is closed as they build a new facility across the street

If on campus park at the tower.. make a walk.. go into memorial tower .. it is a nice small museum with lots of stuff about lsu in the wars. .. civil.. Vietnam.. etc. . then walk over to the building where natural science is… across the grass from tower to right of library.. see an old mike and other taxidermy stuff.. leave and walk across Exxon square ( grass plot behind library ) to hill memorial library.. look at some old documents and great detailed oooold maps of landowners in Louisiana..walk to Indian mounds (older than pyramids)… walk through the field house renovations ( enter door by mounds so you see the tile mike design on floor).. walk around the grass area which use to be the pool..go see mike.. cross the street and eat at tourchys… walk back up through the back and cut through the Design and arts building.. look at weird art in green area before geology building.. go into new ( at least to me) portion of geology building and look at some old rocks and a full size dinosaur.. come out and back at car..

Fwiw the old faculty club has a nice lunch buffet .. they call it the club at the union now.

We’re actually going to Houmas House for lunch today.

Beautiful place. We really like it there.
