Having to go through Bham to go from 59 to 65 is horrible.

Both drives have their black holes...55 from Canton to Memphis, and 20 between Meridian and Tuscaloosa. Birmingham to the Tn line can be bad depending on construction.
Sheriffs are bad in Alabama between Livingston and Tuscaloosa. State Police is bad everywhere in Mississippi. In my experience the Hwy Patrol in TN is kinda like Texas DPS, you rarely see them, but you know theyre out there hiding in the bushes.

we are in baton rouge and have kids in nashville. we've done both, but strongly prefer 59 to 55. i think we went 55 the second time i went, then said never again. not sure why now.
i may need to reconsider now that the boobie bungalow closed.

Does mandeville traffic ever get bad?
Good lord don't get me started on mandeville traffic. There's the tchefuncte river bridge that for some reason everyone and their mother decides to slow down for, and it causes congestion for at least 4 miles. It's also the home of many wrecks. Huge one there about two months ago where 4 people died, an 18 wheeler exploded, and multiple critical injuries. 55 is glorious, boring as all hell but i fly around 80 with no problems at all. Safe travels

I have driven that route more times than I would like to count and I always took 59.
