f you aren't going at least 85 mph on 55 between Jackson and Oxford

I drive a good chunk of this stretch daily for work and I go 80 all the time.

not much traffic and rarely any State troopers.

Not the most scenic route by any stretch

Just drove that route just last week. I took 59. Only construction or traffic I was slowed in was in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham I don't remember. It went from 3 lanes to 1.

No it’s not. Nowhere near as densely populated as Biloxi/Gulfport (I-10)

I can tell you that 59 in Alabama has a lot of construction on it.

This is correct. However no one was working on the whole stretch both times I passed on Saturday afternoons

59 because that horizontal run from Memphis to Nashville is a boring beast. You'll see varied landscape thru MS and AL.

55 so you can avoid Alabama. I swear the cops there just look for Louisiana license plates to pull over.

sooo, you want him to go a completely different route to avoid the 3-4 minutes it takes to pass through downtown jackson?

once you get north of jackson, you can set the cruise on 79 and not even touch the wheel until you get to memphis.

It comes down to whether or not you're going to hit Bham or Memphis at rush hour.

You don't even have to go into Memphis if you cut the corner in N. MS and get on the new I269 Memphis bypass

Exit I55 at Hernando, MS. Take Byhalia Rd. to Hwy 305 to I269 Bypass. Get on I40 East at Arlington, TN

I use the Natchez Trace when I go from Ridgeland to Huntsville...yes you can't go 70, but there's little or no traffic and no 18 wheelers to put up with...

The Federal Park Rangers recently got a fleet of unmarked various model speed enforcement vehicles. They are writing some tickets these days. I had to send my ticket money to some court in Philadelphia, PA for a ticket on the Trace in MS
