it should be a black vs. a white

Sounds like the exact opposite of racism to me. 2 AA candidates have the opportunity to run for public office. What else could they possibly want?

Here's a quick test when considering if something is racist. Switch the races involved from black to white and vice versa.
How would it come across if a white Metro Councilman said the same thing about it being an atrocity for him to compete against another white man. How do you think the black people would feel about that?
They would come unhinged, and rightly so.
