Baton Rouge Police went to Joshua Desira’s residence, at 2203 N. Little John, to arrest him on drug counts around 3:30 p.m., but did not find his car at his home, according to police documents. Detectives were leaving the area when they saw Desira, 22, driving northbound on the 2200 block of Oak Knoll.

The detectives turned on their emergency lights and got out of their vehicle to arrest Desira, at which point he put his vehicle in reverse and accelerated backward, striking three mailboxes, two trees and an Oak Knoll Drive home, causing severe damage to the residence, the report says. Police removed Desira from the vehicle, subdued him with a stun gun because he was resisting, and arrested him.

Police found a .40 Smith and Wesson pistol, later confirmed stolen, six bags of marijuana and 22 dose units of Alprazolam, an anxiety medication, inside a bag on the back floorboard of the vehicle, the report says.

Desira was also found to be on probation on first-degree robbery until 2019, the report says.
