I'm sure this is not new to anyone in BR. I live and work in the Bluebonnet area. Frequently i see two buses and on occasion three at a time one behind the other with only a couple of people to none at all traveling the route. I am a public transportation advocate for those that need it but the waste is obscene. Why the need for these massive buses when fewer and smaller vehicles would suffice.

If they were using smaller buses they couldn't come whining to voters for more money every 5 years.

They've got people on it. Don't worry they'll have 5 buses back to back to back before too long.

FWIW.. I believe the Mall had become some sort of hub for CATS now. So it would make sense that they would have multiple busses there.

If you cut CATS's budget, a certain subset of the population will scream that it is racist because it prevents them from getting to their jobs.. which they totally have and go to every day.

Maybe we should get rid of CATS and give out Uber vouchers.

How to fix the Baton Rouge Public transportation system:
1. Fire everyone at the CATS office and bid they system out
2. Streetcar on Nicholson from Campus to the Capital
3. Bus Rapid Transit line (only because BRT is cheaper than a streetcar and can be upgraded to a streetcar if the demand is ever there) from down Perkins from MOL to the overpass, then find a way to extend the line all the way to the airport
4. Another Bus Rapid Transi line down Florida or Government Street from the River to the Cortana Mall
5. Put casino busses or vans on the less traveled routes. They are cheaper, take up less space and would give the impression that atleast the company is trying to be as efficient as possible.
6. Build the NOLA-BR commuter train but make the BR downtown train station line up with the BRT routes.

That explains a lot about the mall as of late.

I'm pretty sure there's a transfer point now at the Mall..so you're going to have multiple bus routes converging there.
