re: Boy Scouts Will Allow Girls To Join

I would be cool with that. Segregated patrols, co-ed troops seems workable.

Imagine actually caring about this. Who cares if girls are allowed to join? Grow up, it's a kids group.

Girl Scouts is horrible, they teach them to sew and make cupcakes and such. They do way less camping and stuff that the Boy Scouts do. I see this as a good thing, I've raised kids in both programs and have always wished my little girl could join the Boy Scouts. We helped out a lot so she attended plenty of the activities that the Boy Scouts did and wanted to participate more. I see this as a good thing.

I disagree completely. There are many more opportunities today in scouting than 30 years ago. High adventure camps, traveling 100's of miles to different camping destinations, etc. Just in our Cub Scout pack we camp out two-three times per year. I very rarely camped out when I was in Cub Scouts. If you want to argue that the parents are busier these days and it doesn't allow for the boys' to take advantage of all the opportunities, so be it. But, that's a different argument than you made.

We have a mixed bag in our pack, but that's Cub Scouts. But this isn't any different than when I earned Eagle Scout at 16 in the 80's. By the time you hit high school, there are other interests. I'm glad I stuck it out all the while playing football and wrestling in high school. And, as soon as I received my Eagle that was the last meeting I attended and probably peeled out in the parking lot on the way out. Are there kids in Scouting that aren't involved in sports (I'll assume that's where you're going with this comment) that rely on scouting as their sole extracurricular activity? Sure. To cherry pick recent examples otherwise, Josh Hart and Danny Etling are Eagles scouts and D1 athletes at major universities. It can go both ways.

That's right, the Cub Scouts are going to be boys and girls. The Boy Scouts will remain separated and they'll have a separate program for them.

Honestly I don't think this won't be a big deal other than it's going to allow girls to join a great program and learn some life skills. Nothing at all wrong with that.

So instead of reforming the girl scouts, they'll just be lazy and force the Boy Scouts to accept girls. That's the American way

In many places it is like that. Heck Venture has been co-ed forever.
