Everytime I see a bodybuilding documentary it's generally a nerdy white kid who got picked on big time in hs, so he becomes a veiny freak and thinks he's a hardass now.

I watched one that was about some retired failed bodybuilder in NJ pushing his guido son for the circuit. Showed the dad helping him shave his body hair and wax and spray tan and shite. Effing weird.

Yeah, must've been. I wasn't searching out bodybuilding docs.

I know my fondest teenage memories involve trying on speedos for dear old mom and dad.

I still long for the days when my dad and I would bond over him shaving my arse cheeks.

I see no practical reason for anyone to be a bodybuilder...none at all. Maybe if theyre competing thats cool, otherwise its just weird.

Its simply illogical. Thats all I have to say. Unless you're working out for that manual labor position you're trying out for, then I dont see any reason at all you would need to bench press 400 lb.

So do you think we have a basis for a relationship?

Dated a girl whose sister was a multiple winner of the Ms. Olympia and met quite a few male & female bodybuilders in CA when going to grad school. Truly, they were collectively some of the most insecure knuckleheads on the planet and that's saying something. Insecure and pathological narcissism is a bad combination.

The same can be said for a lot of things. I'm apathetic, but if it makes someone happy and they understand the risks, have at it.

Same here. They worshiped the form so much, it was what they were attracted to.

As am I, but there are plenty of "bodybuilders" who think it genuinely makes them a better person (as in, you're weak, and they're strong and desirable), and must constantly allude to their "workouts".

It makes me ponder the interest, and why it exists, and for what purpose.

You can bet your arse I'm not thinking about it but in a rare situation.

Just because I comment about it, doesn't mean i spend all day scheming against the mindset.
