Policymakers are being held hostage by the media and the social and economic fallout from this disaster are going to define the next quarter century at least. Totally insane.

The black plague killed half of Europe. It was the 1900s before the population recovered.

i agree it is being covered like nothing before and there most certainly is some fear mongering by the media, but some policymakers on both sides should be ashamed for trying to fill these stimulus bills with pork and more importantly not working together to develop a reasonable timeline for when life can go back to normal for the American people.

I agree. It’s akin to the closing of schools because of a fricking thunderstorm. You never heard of that shite ten years ago. Now it happens three to four times a year. Get ready, this is going to be the new norm. This will happen every five to ten years. Bunch of pussies.

The biggest failing IMO. Seriously, what is the end game with the current approach? The virus is going to still be around next month and the next. We need to transition back to normal taking what reasonable precautions that we can. This thing is just going to have to burn through us until we achieve a level of herd immunity.

This virus isn't comparable to the black plague. Even if we had taken no action, it never would have had any chance of even killing 1% of the population of any nation.

The communities that were just ahead of Genghis Khan's invasion were kinda scared also. Or so I heard.

I think we need another world war if folks are thinking being told to stay home for a month is a massive ordeal that will define the globe for decades.

We’ve become too decadent and innocent to adversity.

False.

Europe's population recovered from the Black Death (not the "black plague") within 250 years.

That's my point. This isnt even in the same ball park as what we have faced. We aren't experiencing real hysteria.

1.5% fatality rate doesn’t factor-in that up to half the people have little to no symptoms.

The real rate is probably .0005%

Actually it kinda does.

If you just limit it to who got tested it’s close to 3% fatality rate right now on the US

But who am I kidding.

I’m speaking to someone who thinks half of 1.5 is .0005
