I assumed it was something like that, but thanks for the information! In a situation like that, Best Western is obviously in the wrong.

The news report tonight said the hotel contacted the family and reversed their decision and would allow the service dog but the family already had reservations somewhere else.

That is strange because Best Western is one of the few hotels that have allowd me to bring my dog. I have stayed at Best Westerns all over the country with my old lab.

Sounds like the family said we want to bring a dog, hotel said no thanks, family went to the media and corporate, and the hotel said no problem for a service dog.

Sounds to me like family is stirring the pot, especially since mom is an ADA lawyer.

Does seem kind of coincidental doesn't it

This is what happened:

- Family included "service dog will be present" in the comments section of the reservation.
- Independent owner who is overly meticulous about counting pennies, sees additional cost to clean room occupied by pet, and replies back "reservation cancelled".
- Mom, being an advocate for ADA compliance calls the news station to share the bad news with the public.

I've given up on trying to book rooms at low-budget hotels that have minimal supervision from corporate like this one. For instance, I had one cancel 3 rooms in Athens last year at a Sleep Inn because he saw my cheap rate and the extra $300 he could make by reselling my rooms.

One can almost safely assume that an independent Best Western, Microtel, Quality Inn, Econo Lodge, etc. is owned by a Patel.

Just find a hotel that's pet friendly. It's kind of an inconvenience that you can't stay at whatever hotel you want but, why make such a stink? It's not the only hotel in town.
