Historically, from the fan's perspective, I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves. As far as within the business, he was arguably the best worker in the business. North Alabama baw to boot.

Vader was just too damn stiff. He would literally beat the crap out of guys, and I don't think he could help it. He was also miserable to be around and didn't value bathing by pretty much all accounts.

I went to middle school with a cousin of his in the late 70's.
Never got to meet him, but his cousin said he was a really laid-back cool dude.
