What does everyone think is the best shift schedule. It can only allow 36 hrs one week and 48 hours the rest. The week pay schedule is monday-sunday. Edit to add It is a 12 hour shift with 4 crews.

My f-i-l worked at us steel in b’ham. One week 7-3, next week 3-11, next week 11-7, then start over He loved 3-11. Said it gave him time to mess around during the day, and then had a normal bedtime.

So glad Ive never worked M-F 9-5.

IMO any shift work beats working 5 days a Week. I get a 7 day off stretch once a month and love it. Also love having weekdays off to myself around the house.
530-530

Start:
Days: MTWT
Off: 7 days
Nights:FSSM
Off: TWT
Days: FSS
Nights: TWT
Off: FSS

Repeat, repeat, repeat

I loved and hated working 3 12s nights when I was a floor nurse

Loved having 4 days off a week
Loved being able to schedule myself to work my 3 12s each week and have 8 days off in between
Hated working 12 hour shifts
Hated working weekends and holidays
Hated not having a set schedule.

M-F 8-4:30 suits me better now. Although I do miss having that random Tuesday off during the week to just do whatever. Also sucks having to take time off work for doctor's appointments or anything else that only has traditional business hours.

Last 10 years I worked as nurse I had set schedule. One week I worked MT ,off WT,worked FSS.Then off MT,worked WT and off FSS.12 hour shifts, days.
It was nice being off during the week.I didn’t mind working weekends even though I occasionally missed out doing something I wanted.
I don’t understand how people that work 8 hour days M-F get things done such as going to dentist, get their cars serviced ,etc.During my 35 year career I worked 12 hour shifts for 33 years but a lot of those years I didn’t have a set schedule and had to work some nights.

My Pops worked 12 hour swings for 30+ years. 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. Swinging days to nights. He did that for 30+ years before getting a straight days job with the same company. I worked it for one summer right after high school graduation on a summer work program for employee's children. That was enough for me. I saved alot of money, though, because I didn't have much time to spend it.

That’s the one I work too except for it’s a 7-7 shift. It’s the best schedule for shift work I’ve seen.

We work 7/7, we have the same 48/36. It's the best shift I've had in 24 years.

Your shift would be T-F-S-S/M-T-W Days, week off, then the same on nights. Being home everyday on this schedule has been great.

Seems like you have only seen one side of the coin here. Shift work sucks

Well, If I don’t take any OT, which is scarce right now, I work 2 weeks out of the month. Also have a full week off every month as well.

It sucks working on weekends two of those weeks, but I have a lot more time off than you do

ETA: this is what I work.

Except it’s 5-5

You must be confused. Work is clearly posted in the OP. He didn’t ask the best schedule for dancing to Tik Tok videos.
