Starting next month, I'll be commuting to downtown nola from Metairie (near lakeside mall) during the week day for school (LSUNO, right next to superdome) and I am wondering what everyone thinks the best route would be to take every morning.

I would need to be on campus for class every morning around 8AM. I am not worried about how long it takes me to get home, just wanting to make sure I get there on time every day.

Interstate and downtown exit?
Causeway to jeff highway?
Airline to claiborne? (leaning this way)

What are your thoughts? what is the quickest way? Where might I hit obstacles due to traffic or construction?

Thanks everyone

Take the B Train from Metairie to the Earhart Station, switch there to the Geaux Train subway to the Superdome Station.

Don't you public transport at all brah?

Near Lakeside I'd just hop on I10 and get off at the Poydras exit. It'll spit you out at Poydras and Claiborne. Make two lefts to U-turn and get over to the student lots. You can check traffic on Google maps before you go. If you change route, take causeway to airline and continue as it'll turn into Tulane Ave and you'll hit campus.

When it backs up, you can exit Carrolton, Then stay on to the Howard exit. Go down to the new Glass modern looking building on Howard and then turn underneath that overpass before the Times Picayune. Go to the stop sign and u turn to the on-ramp and get on Broad, then exit right away on Poydras and get right to downtown and it saves you two miles or so of traffic at least.

r That works if the Ponchartrain expressway is backed up well past claiborne.

If you need to be at school at 8 am, traffic usually isn't bad at all at 7:30-45ish. Just hop on I-10.

If there is a way to get to Earhart expressway from that side of the interstate? Cleary maybe? That would be my route if so

Yeah, I avoid the interstate whenever possible, but that's the best option that early in the day and that close to an onramp.

I-10 to Airline/Tulane is the best route.

Mrs. Sheep does this daily.

Cw to 10, when you get downtown stay right towards slidell on 10. The first exit is a left exit for Poydras, take that, voila

10 to Poydras. Eastbound traffic getting on at Causeway can be a bitch sometimes
