would like to bring the fam to a parade in NOLA this year. its been years since ive been to one and those nights usually ended up at the titty bar. would like a place where i could park the truck and bust out the jambalaya pot.

There was a long thread about the risks of going to Cancun on here recently. Doing what you said is even more risky, imo.

No open flame on parade routes

Probably wont be able to park anywhere near where you'll watch the parade. (unless you literally go two days beforehand and sleep in a tent like a bum hippie).

metry truck parade...and even that can be sketchy with the influx of wankers and hood rats.

Your family would be safer if you just skipped the parade and brought them straight to the titty bar.

St. Charles from Napoleon and out about 6 blocks is all families.

St. Charles for uptown parades is the most family friendly.

This.

Stay close to the Jewish temple and Fat Harry's and you should be fine. Stay away from canal/FQ.

The Sunday before Fat Tuesday is great for kids. Parades start at 11am and Bacchus ends th night starting at 5pm.

You can get out around 10-10:30 and make your way to the route. The area around Jackson avenue & st Charles is pretty safe and the crowd is a little bit thinnner then it is by napolean & st Charles. More families, less college kids.

I'm being serious when I say that Nola probably isn't the best place to do what you are planning. It's a shite show.

Don't be an ignorant shite.
As others have said, uptown is great for families, especially day parades

If you want a spot to put a cooking set up and chairs etc... you need to get there pretty early that morning. Getting your vehicle close enough to move all the stuff will be the tricky part.

Check out the number streets off of St. Charles. Crowds on Saturday afternoon before carnival are not too bad and even on Sunday it's fine as well. lots o families and civilized folk Also plenty of other places to go right off the route .

Get the Cuban Sandwich at the corner grocery ...their red beans and rice are good too.
