Friend of mine was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, starts treatment tomorrow. I think I'm going to shave my head as a symbolic gesture. What's the best method of accomplishing this without fricking my head up?

Wahl clippers to start. Don't just use razor right away. Once hair is clipped off, you can shave with razor if you want. Best method is mirror for your shower, then applying shaving cream, then shaving with razor if you're trying to go that short. Post shave cream is recommended for the razor shave of the head. Also, go more by feel then by what you see. Behind the ears is the trickiest part.

Clippers with no guard to start,

Then any triple blade razor will do. I don't use cream just water.

Start off slow till you learn the lay of the land so you won't cut yourself.

Get some hair clippers from Wal-Mart (or Walgreens/Target/etc).

Wal Mart

Start with the largest attachment then work your way down to where you are cutting with no attachment. Get some shaving cream and a razor and finish it off.

PS....sorry about your friend

I shave my head to the scalp every morning with barbasol and a dollar shave club razor. It takes less than 1 min. Around the ears is the tricky part so take your time around the ears. Go against the grain to get a really smooth shave.

No advice on the head shaving, just wanted to say sorry about your friend and kudos on the good gesture.

(You better go through with it and not pussy out.)

I agree. Start with the clippers.

Then do like I do, I use shaving cream and a razor.

I have a little shaving mirror that sticks to the wall in the shower to help.

Me too, but Im so used to it now that I barely use it. It is a great investment for the first few months however.

Depending on how sensitive you skin is, you may want to avoid going against the grain on the first pass. Shave with the grain and then go against.

If you're going to bic it, do NOT use a triple blade razor... Use the throw-away single blade for best results.

You WILL frick up your head if you use a triple blade..

This. I shave mine with a razor once a week.

Get you a towel steaming hot with hot water.
Place on head.
Repeat a few times.
I use conditioner instead of shaving cream.
Shave with the grain.
Rinse with hot water.
Conditioner.
Shave against the grain.

Smooth as a babies arse.
