Best MBA programs in the South Central US?

Im graduating in PETE in May with a 3.1. I may have a job helping manage a saltwater disposal facility that will be built around May but the pay might not be worth it and additional school may be more beneficial. I've also been cold calling every oil company in Shreveport with no luck. If I can't find a job what are the most affordable reputable MBA programs around here? It'd help to have one that has a concentration in oil and gas.

Sounds like the easiest job in the world. Just pour it into the ocean. Done.

A&M doesn't have an energy concentration, but a lot of their MBAs go into oil and gas
Rice & Oklahoma have energy specializations

UT Austin
Emory
Vanderbilt
SMU
Rice
Tulane
Ga Tech
UGA
Texas A&M
Those aren't exactly South Central but gives you options. UT Austin is clearly the best on the list.

I'd take A&M or Rice over any of those

Rice was a good call for the Houston market. A&M is good in certain specialties.
UT Austin is still clearly the best on the list. It is the only that is top ~15 and is recruited by the most prestigious firms.

A&M has an excellent and affordable program that is 3 semesters rather than the typical 4 (less time, less tuition). They also give scholarships to out of state students that let them pay instate tuition.
Personally, I suggest figuring out where you want to be in terms of industry, occupation role, and geographically, then research which schools place graduates in similar situations and go from there.

Business schools are a lot like law schools if you're not in a specialized field or doing it to advance in a certain company/industry - ranking and reputation matter a lot, so apply to the best school you can.

Bad time to be cold calling any oil company no matter where located.

UT is certainly the best on your list. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go there. An MBA from UT just seems to hold a ton of weight.
Rice is great if you know you want to be in Houston, but it's very pricey.
A&M is better than the rest of those, except maybe Vandy. I don't know much about their MBA program, but the Vandy MBAs I've met seem very sharp.

Only one mention of LSU? They have a brand new state-of-the art business complex and lots of good professors.
