We call it "craps" today.

Yea, we're degenerates down here.

Not surprising considering the folks that were sent to settle S. La. What are some origins of Poker/Craps? I assume from parts of Europe. Interesting.

Bernard deMarigny actually brought craps back from an "exile" in Europe.

His daddy had to send him away to curb embarrassment.

Dude was a straight party playboy.

Eta: weren't the D-day landing crafts invented here?

I know they were built here.

If you are going to call Poker an invention from Louisiana (I had no idea) then I'm going to have to say that Jazz is by far a better "invention" from Lousiana. It's the original American art form.

Was it you working on a screenplay about Bernard deMarigny? It sounded interesting, any progress?

I just happened to be looking at these pictures last night: Higgins Boats being built in New Orleans, 1943 | Another view | and one more...

The photos were taken by the WPA, and that site lets you browse them by their locations.

Louisiana. Also invented the cocktail,

I find it hard to believe that people from Louisiana were the first to mix alcohol with something in human history. No way thats true
Also poker is over 1000 years old.

No - We invented the smoothie.

Original daquiris were not frozen - they were made with rum, fresh lime juice and sugar cane extract or symple syrup. They were invented in the Caribean.

ETA:

Also - The Hurricane drink was named after the glass it was served in.
