When my wife was little she used to be able to see the spirit of an aunt and grandfather. They would sit on the edge of her bed for a minute or so, then go away.

She saw her aunt one more time when our son was born; she said her aunt looked at him and nodded her head. He's 9 now.

She hasn't seen anything since but I believe her 100%. I believe there's a lot more out there that we don't know, or aren't meant to know about during this life. Young children are more in tuned to the bigger picture.

How do those of us who agree with you explain what OP described? Do we assume the child actually overheard conversations that grandpa died and simply picked up on phone conversations overheard where mom and dad said sentimental things that the kid repeated?

My nephew had a near drowning when he was around 4. Cpr saved him. A few months later at school he had a little project that asked "Where Jesus was", his answer was "in the water".

That was 3 or 4 years ago and I still get a little choked up thinking about it.

Very strange, but we had a somewhat similar instance in our family.

My son and his wife have two daughters. My son’s mother and I separated and divorced early on in his life and shared custody of him. She passed away at an early age in 2021.

My son and his wife keep a picture of her in their living room. It is from the 1980s when she and I were married.

On July 9 last year (her birthday) my then 3 year old grand daughter was in the living room and was looking at the picture of my former wife/son’s mother. My daughter in law said to my grand daughter, that’s your grandma. My grand daughter said, “she was in my room this morning. “

Clearly, my grand daughter had no idea it was her grand mother’s birthday. We just found it odd that she was staring at a picture of her grand mother that has been in the living room for quite some time on that day of all days (her birthday) and mentioned that her grandma was in her room that morning.

I’m just thankful that she hasn’t come back to give me any more shite or ask for any more money! We actually did make amends to one another before she died.

When my daughter was about 3, she, my wife and I were sitting in the bed one night and out of the blue she said,” Before I was born I was up there.” and pointed up. I said jokingly,” in the attic” and she said no “up there . I was waiting to be born. I picked you and mommy to be my parents. “
Still freaks me out a bit.

Happened to me when I was a kid (4)

Saw a ghost hovering above my bed, asked “dad?” and it responded yes. He had been murdered which I didn’t know about at the time. I knew my stepdad as dad and was told later

I ran out the room and my mom/grandma didn’t believe me

Half of the PT believes Demar Hamlin is dead and having a weekend at Bernie's moment. Most are Pio alters but I digress.

For a 3 yo?? In my experience, kids start to become aware of mortality around Kindergarten.

To each their own. I took the opposite approach with my kids and made them very aware of death, our belief in the afterlife and regularly visit the cemetery with them. Profound teaching moment that we aren’t invincible, and to cherish moments and memories.

This happened with my son and my grandmother that passed about 6 years before he was born. Long story, but awesome story. After we figured out and confirmed he was talking about her, she never showed up again. That was disappointing, but still a cool experience.

Coincidence my friend. How many other unfortunate kids had their grandfather die, their parents not tell them, and the kid DIDN’T have some random thought of the old man? I’m willing to bet upwards of 99.9%.

2 things, the parents certainly embellished what this kid “saw” and said, and if this whole scenario was true, why is this kid so special compared to the other aforementioned 99.9%?

When my son was about to turn 5 my MiL passed away suddenly. We prepped for the 5 hour drive. I then went to pick up my son, but did not tell the day care or son anything about what was going on. We planned to tell him at home since he was really bonded with her and we knew it would be devastating. Got to the day care and went to his class. Again, the day care had zero clue other than he was leaving early. Small talk with the teacher and she mentioned he had a really restless nap. She said he was singing. This was atypical as he normally napped well. Asked what he was singing in his “sleep” and she said “I’ll Fly Away”. Heard this and definitely got chills. A special song to us and one that has been on a playlist I made for him since birth. It was one of his Nana’s favorites as well. Still haven’t figured that one out.

Was that the kid telling his mom what a drop tank was, even though no one had told him what was a drop tank?

He was supposedly a WWII pilot that was killed in action.

Kid was explaining everything about the particular plane he flew without anyone ever telling him about it. Crazy stuff.

I thought this thread would be about...

What is a ghost? Yeah probably right, ghost don't exists.

But our spirit/soul does, which is definitely not a ghost. But OP if you think that is crazy, you should check out some nursing forums. I know there is some massive nursing forum about weird stuff at hospitals/nursing homes, like supernatural stuff, can't remember the exact name of the topic. But anyway, these nurses tell their stories of what has happened to them or their dying patients that are all very similar to what the kid saw in OPs story.

I sure would love to believe that, but it's no different than believing in a ghost, to me.

No it doesn't. It really doesn't. This is nonsense - all of it.

Niece who was a couple months shy of 3 has a similar experience when my grandmother passed away. She knew who my grandmother was though.
