One of the best and largest in the Birmingham metro area. Explain the relevance and I might give an actual answer.

Anywhere really. It depends on what you know and what is a hot industry right now. 10 years ago it was selling loans, 4 years ago it was selling Internet traffic but IDK what is making the most $ these days but I am sure you could find out with some research. There is no reason not to be making AT LEAST 60-70k in your first year if you find the hot industry.

Bowl.

What job donyoy currently work now?

My nephew graduated last Month and started an an apprenticeship with a plumber (commercial construction). He started at $13 hr and the guy who hited him told him he could take 10 more. He talked to a couple guys who have been there a few years and most of them make close to $30hr.

You could also work on tug boats. You can easily make $100gs within 3 years if you have a desire to learn and your not a complete dumbass.

Are not always the answer and often lead to more problems in the long run these days.

Can you weld?

If not, go to welding school. If you're smart you can parlay this into a great career. If you're dumb you're still going to make very good money.

Air Traffic Control

This pic is from one of the guys at Stuck Mic. The word is that the FAA is starting its "off the street" hiring for people from the general public. That's how I got on. I have a degree, but a lot of controllers don't. You don't need a college education, but there are certain skills that you need to have in spades to do this job.

I can weld a little bit, but the the problem with trade school is I don't have the time or money for it. From what I hear you also have to go through an apprenticeship first and I need work with actual pay.

did you ever consider being an electrician?

what about working for CSX? You could start as a utility worker until you find the trade that's best for you.

I have a friend who works for them and he gets paid pretty good.

I'm even thinking about doing it myself honestly. I've been a dock worker since I was 22 and the hours are inconsistent as they have ever been right now. I've done well there but I'm at the point where change seems inevitable.

So I get what your going through.

CSX is looking better by the day.

Just a suggestion.

Get into law enforcement. It is the next "nursing". Cop salaries are increasing across the board.

EXAMPLE: I saw this news story

quote:

April 2, 2014
SAN JOSE (KCBS)— San Jose is having a hard time attracting new police officers and has only filled 29 of 60 slots in next month’s police academy.

they aren't getting good people to apply for these jobs

here's what they offer:

quote:

SALARY:

Academy pay is $31.15 an hour, until sworn in as a police officer
Police officer, starting step 1 salary $75,483
Police officer, top step salary $101,088 (one step increase annually for seven years)

BENEFITS:

4 day work week, 10 hours a day
5% additional premium pay for certain specialized assignments
Overtime pay assignments(time and a half if you work on one of your 3 days off)
Off-duty secondary employment
Paid vacation of 80 hours to start, 180 hours maximum
Paid accrued sick leave of 96 hours annually
Uniform allowance pay

buddy of mine came out here and made 127k his 2nd year

oh and BTW retirement in 30.....you'll be 52, with free everything and a pension that would make edwin edwards blush

I went to school for a shite degree and didn't find anything when I got out - went into truck driving bc Sallie Mae was busting my chops and I wanted to get out of town for a bit. Long story short, I work for a grocery distributor now and am working on a business degree online and moved out to an apartment on my own in BR. Easy work and is helping me get out from here. Just something to look at, especially if you have no S/O or kids.
