Pretty excited about this one. I've had LA Homebrew's beer (same owner) at zapps and brew at the zoo, it was always great.

Pour House Pizza in Hammond is really good. Gnarly Barley is just down the road from it.

I work mere steps from that place and notice the Thursday evening running club. Looks like a fun establishment.

Cypress is the best brewery in BR. Istrouma is technically St. Gabriel, but it's atmosphere is #1 and has great pizza.

Le Chein is in Denham. Excellent beer and atmosphere. No pizza, but they have a pizza handpicked (homemade) sometimes.

Istrouma has the best atmosphere

It’s perfect for those with kids. It can be a mad house depending on the day but I enjoy the place. Beer is decent, pizza is decent. Cool place, though.

Istrouma has a great facility and the beer is ok, if they actually have the good ones.

Best breweries are Rally Cap and Cypress Coast

I agree - these are the two best in B.R. and if it were down to just beer I'd give a slight edge to Rally Caps but not by much.

Great atmosphere at Istrouma - much better than the two aforementioned breweries if that's what you are looking for but the beer just ain't as good IMHO.

Rally Cap is the best brewery in Baton Rouge.

But I’d suggest you go to the Bulldog and get a pizza from Red Zeppelin if you are looking for beer and pizza.

Le Chien in Denham Springs which is Baton Rouge metro. Also a small brewery called Gilla in Gonzales right next door to a great taco place.

Was coming here to post the same thing! Only correct answer

You could Chafunkta in Covington, Old Rail in Mandeville, Gnarly Barley and Low Road in Hammond, Le Chien in Denham, then go Cypress, Tin Room, Rally in Baton Rouge, Istrouma in St. Gabriel, Gilla in Gonzales, with a stop at Mud Bugs in Thibodaux before you hit New Orleans.

Not sure why everyone is bashing tin roof but they’ve been around the longest and definitely the best bar that’s a brewery. Not sure if they’ve been brewing good beer lately though, but they have some consistent ones that are good.

Because they've seemingly gotten worse over the last 5 years. They had a brief period where they were doing really well but now even their "consistent" beers are worse.

they’ve definitely taken a step back lately but I like a good bar scene and they can provide that. They’re also the biggest and sell the most beer in the area.

Strictly talking BR it’s Rally Cap with Cypress Coast coming in a close second. Gilla, just about 20 min outside of BR in Gonzales, is the best in the BR area though.
