Sorry you and your sister had to deal with that. Treat her now like she treated y'all as children.

She had a lifetime to do better. She can stick her remorse, regret, and want for connection in a pauper's unmarked grave.

This is essentially the brother’s stance.

He has no desire to have mother-son lunches and visits.

look i get it

but just know, if you ever literally get to watch someone in that situation die, you realize the power of mercy and forgiveness

i didn't even learn this firsthand. i did watching my mom care for her dad who was certainly not the best father

What was your relationship with the father when the kid was conceived?

The same reason they love their (non-biological) father is the same reason they should let that selfish old bitch die alone as a stranger. Sure blood matters to an extent but from what it sounds that woman is hardly their mother. The woman wanted to lead a self-centered life without her kids, part of that trade off is she gets to die without them there too.

at the least, to allow them a chance to seek redemption and apologize

Maybe so, but I’m not sentimental and I have a vengeful streak. That’s just me, and I’m not saying I’m right.

What would piss me off beyond all reason is if I gave her a chance for an apology and I still did not get it.

I sort of went through this (not the paternity mind frick) but my biological father was a real POS. A thief, a junkie, and a compulsive liar. Once I was out of child support years he tried to establish a connection and I ended up giving in. I'm not going to go into all the details because this post would be 5000 words but it was a mistake. He finally OD'd last year. I told myself I should feel something but in the end I just didn't care.

As far as what would I do? I wouldn't get involved with other peoples internal family issues. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't.

Maybe one of the many gentlemen of the OT would be willing to step into the role.

Hard to say but I dont think I would be willing to have a relationship her simply because it was now convenient. If she didnt have the time for me then, fine but I'm not going to make time for her now unless I'm searching I'm searching for sone sort of closure.

on that same note

most people end up separated from their family for resentment-based issues

what does that say about you if you foster similar resentment?

be the better person. don't be the same person as the admitted POS

I would absolutely tell her that I am tired of being her child and everything that came with it and that I would prefer to go have fun instead of caring for her.. And that you are sure someone will take care of her.. Or that she would just die off

If someone does something that affects my life, that I would take personal, I am going to get revenge (I do not take many things person so when I do, it stays with me until I get revenge.. Maybe revenge is the wrong word, but I want them to know that I don't let someone take advantage of me)..

This woman is a selfish bitch. Leaves her kids, then when she has no one left, she calls them because she needs them to take care of her. I'd wait for her to die and go piss on her fricking grave.

My sister in law is a total piece of shite. I wouldn't take care of her if she became ill. I don't think my wife would either. Thankfully she lives 6-7 hrs away
