damn

Words can offer little to help his family cope with this....have no ties to the kids but will be thinking and praying for his family as they go through this.

prayers for the kid as well - hope he did not suffer.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I don't want this to come off in the wrong way. I know they didn't want this to happen and all.But it's the enployer's duty to ensure their employees are safe in situations like this. They legally have to inform the employee of the present dangers and get consent to work in such conditions.

I did some legal research on this after being asked to go out in several lighting storms for a shitty job and several other people around town being hit.

Yep, can't comment on legalities. But the kid was doing what he always does picking everything up as the weather chased everyone inside. Just doing his job. Damn shame

Never heard of those condos. Looks like there are several for sale and cheap as hell. Beachfront condo for less than 300k. 10 miles east and they'd be around 2 to 3 times that ?

Terrible story though. I've been caught in the middle of those quick and strong pop up storms down there on the beach several times and it's scary as shite.

That was a serious lightning storm yesterday. No way anyone should of been on the beach, but the problem is those guys may have 100 beach chair set ups to put away and they have to make sure they won't blow all over the place. Tough judgment call on when to kick people off their chair because often times the storms swing miles away.

We have stayed at the Island Princess before. Great place. My gosh, that is terrible. Lightning is one thing I do not play around with. The moment I see it, I'm out. Always been afraid of lightning.

Terrible. Folks get popped on the beach a few times a year. Don't take any chances out there.

Very proud that no one has spelled it lightening yet.

Agree. Company should have had a policy in place to protect employees as well as customers, i.e., in the event of an approaching storm/lightning, leave equipment on the beach and seek a safe area.

I used to be a lifeguard. We shut that shite down the minute we heard thunder way off in the distance. The kids, and thus their parents, would bitch about it, but no exceptions.

Thanks for not posting them then.

I was a BSA Mile Swimmer and Red Cross LG certified but I never served.

It's one of those jobs that sounds a lot better than it is. I got second degree sunburn and had to do a walk around of the kiddie pool every hour or so looking for dirty diapers.
