People keep saying that, but I have a really hard time believing it. Are you really saying that you can simply not give a shite about the quality of gas you put in them, forget about stabilizer, forget about running it dry or draining the tank, and it'll just fire right up every spring? Anybody have an Echo or Stihl and had trouble?

had mine for at least 5 full seasons, don't do anything special and never have had a problem. love my stihl products. Echo's are great too.

yes if you run the premixed trufuel (or equal)which has no ethanol in it.no mixing,no stabilizers,no special trips to certain fuel stations.especially good for chainsaws which may only get used a few times a year.

Don't listen to these jokers. They seem to have strong opinions against battery powered lawn tools but with no first hand experience at all. I have a subdivision-sized lot and I'm never going back to gas. And my Stihl blower and trimmer DO NOT always start easy. Sometimes I have to crank for 20 seconds and 25% of the time they flood. And I actually do maintain them.

Another advantage is if you need to use your blower for a quick job you don't smell like exhaust afterwards.

Well there's your problem. Apparently you're not supposed to do that and then they run forever.

Hey Korkstand, I did a little research for you. I laid out a couple of options with Ryobi blowers and trimmers. If you dont want to pay for Ego, Ryobi is the brand you want.

Ryobi 40V

Blower with included 2.6ah battery
Trimmer with included 2.6ah battery
Grand Total: $268.00

Blower with no battery included
Trimmer with included 2.6ah battery
Spare 4ah battery
Grand Total: $337.97

Ryobi 18V One+ System

Blower with included 4ah battery
Trimmer with included 4ah battery
Grand Total: $258.00

Blower with included 4ah battery
Trimmer with no battery
Spare 2-pack of 4ah batteries
Grand Total: $307.97

if you want to spend a little more and go with Ego 56v:

Ego Blower with included 2.5ah battery
Ego trimmer with included 2.5ah battery
Grand Total: $418.00

What cordless power tool system do you currently own OP?

I got a light 18v Ryobi because I already have 18v ryobi tools and batteries. I can do the yard changing batteries once.
If I need more serious work I have a gas powered commercial stihl.

Don't know this for a fact but someone told me Honda is introducing cordless lawn/garden tools this year. I'll take a Honda over anything until you get to $2000-$5000 Bradley, Swisher, Turf Beast, etc. walk behind mowers... and lots of those are powered by Honda. I've had plenty. My money is on Honda to be the best battery tools if available soon.

I have the Ryobi trimmer and blower. The $129 18v versions that come with the 4ah batteries. Perfect for my 1/8 acre small suburban plot of land. I highly recommend them. Going electric was one of the best decisions I've made. I also invested in the 18v Ryobi to do I have plenty of batteries on hand at all times

Ego and core.
Core has a brushless motor.
Basically a computer chip and two magnets.
Very efficient and I sold a lot of them to people that want strength and longevity in a battery powered unit.

One company has the core license and sells these to professional landscape companies. They have meters showing how long the run and info goes to a computer so the company can put the workers time to a job.
They even have charging stations for the companies to charge these units and always have got batteries.

Battery power time 1 hr to 1 hr 1/2, 1 hp engines, and the units run times are equivalent to 1 tank in a gas unit.
They are pricey but have the power and durability that has lasted from what I seen. I sold a few to professional landscapers in hippie sensitive areas.

I do not have any experience with battery powered lawn equipment, so I do not have strong opinions against them.

I'm simply giving my advice on the huge difference between a cheap shitty trimmer and blower and a stihl or echo trimmer and blower. The frustration the op talked about was similar to my experiences, and I thought about getting electric powered lawn equipment, but decided to get nice echo equipment and I'm very happy with my purchases.

Thanks for the links. I'm really leaning toward the Ego stuff even though their batteries are high as giraffe pussy.

Well thanks for your input, and I appreciate you trying to help. Though you did go so far as to suggest that I hire a lawn company rather than buy battery powered equipment...

I used to be dead set on gas powered, too. Cordless tools were always too weak, charge times too slow, and there was probably a little bit of a "manliness" factor to the gas powered stuff. But now it looks like cordless tools are powerful enough, charge times are pretty quick, and I just don't care about looking manly to anybody. I'll go out there in a skirt and high heels, I don't give a frick.

I'm just trying to simplify. Why worry about keeping mixed fuel on hand? Why prime and yank a rope? Why smell like gas and fumes? If you're happy with it, great. I'd rather just slip a battery in and pull a trigger. If I'm going to spend 5 minutes blowing off the driveway, I don't want to spend 2 minutes pouring gas and washing my hands afterwards.

well I suggested hiring someone b/c it sounds like you just don't want to do it at all.

battery powered equipment has come a long way. I'm sure you can find something that will suit you. I just want you to know that not all trimmers and blowers are a pain in the arse to deal with.

And trust me, I could give two shits what anyone else thinks about how I look. I just wanted equipment that was fairly hassle free, reliable, and would give me the power I need, and I found it with my Echo trimmer and blower.

Reading the reviews about the Ego blowers, those things seem legit.

Just remember, you get what you pay for.

My wife (no pics) got me the Ego trimmer and blower w/2.5ah battery for our anniversary, and so far I like them both. My trees are covering my driveway every day right now, and it's great to just grab the thing and get to work. It's so nice to do a 5 minute job in 5 minutes without adding a minute to fill/prime/choke/yank and another minute to wash the smell off my hands.

So thanks to Honky Lips for the Ego rec!

Kork, I hate 2 stroke equipment. It just doesn't get used enough through the year by the average homeowner and it just sits and the fuel gums up the carbs. Commercial model 2 stroked have different design carburetors that are less prone to blockage by bad fuel but still can sometimes be aggravating.

I was ready too give up on them until

Stuff is amazing. 2 year shelf life

ETA, Didn't see update. Glad you have something you like.

Have you looked at DeWalt? I haven't tried any of the lawn equipment, but I have a lot of their 18v power tools that have lasted a long time.
