Waste of money, how about using that money to widen Nicholson instead

waste of $$.
Barely any people live on the route so I dont see many people using it.

I work downtown. There is a bus that goes by my office building every 15 minutes or so. I've never seen more than 3 people on it at a time, including the driver.
Only type of light rail we need is one that goes along both interstates.

I'm sure the criminals love buses since they have a bike rack on the front

Would give students more options than just going to Tigerland.

Houston metro rail was originally built with one line, connecting downtown hotels to the football stadium. Looks like a similar situation here.

Not enough actual residential along the route, would predominantly benefit LSU. And shouldn't be a "tram", should be a streetcar or trolley.

Did you just put Houston and Baton Rouge in the same comparison of metro lines?

Should bridge the gap between downtown and LSU with urban infill, especially with all the in-progress, planned, and proposed development along Nicholson. I think it is a great idea.
Downtown is steadily improving and LSU has their Nicholson Gateway project.

Waste of money. Baton Rudge is a shithole.

Extend it to Brightside and it would make alot more sense. And if they'd develop with the option to extend it all the way to Lauberge even better.

Initial cost a minimum of 100 million dollars. Then you have to operate and maintain the line.
Do we need a three mile rail line between LSU and downtown?
Should this go on the wish list with dredging the lakes, building a new zoo, a SBR library, a new prison, a new mental health facility, a loop, Pecue
interchange, widening I-10, and a new bridge????
We have big ideas and no priorities.

Connecting LSU to downtown is the best thing Baton Rouge could do. You create the corridor with real estate development and apartments down nicholson (which is already happening), and piece by piece LSU flows into downtown. The transit development would further link it all together. It gives you a denser, more vibrant, active LSU and downtown that would benefit both the city and the school. I don't understand how people oppose this, it's an utter lack of vision, but I guess people are just content with living in the Cottages and going to Bogies every weekend until the end of time.

unless the route is getting extended, the residential on the route is already there.
so basically the only people that are going to use it are a few lsu students and some people that live in the ghetto to go downtown.
waste of $$

For the rail? Not that I don't trust you, but that seems high. Most of the real estate development this would result in would be private.

How is it all already there?
There is residential stuff downtown under construction. There is the Water Campus project. There is the River District project. There is LSU's Nicholson Gateway project. All involve dense residential portions. There is plenty of vacant land on Nicholson.
I know "planned" doesn't always eventually equal "built", but these projects historically spur a lot of residential development along the route.

Would a bus or trolley do the same thing? Sure it would.
And don't they already have buses now? Sure they do.
It's Pollyanna stuff.
