When I see a BTR cop car parked at a residence in another parish/town, did the cop buy his own gasoline to get to and from work? Does he pay for the oil changes and tires etc.? Or do we tax paying citizens pay for it?

I can't speak for BRPD, but most departments require the employee to pay a fee if they want to take their unit home and they live in another parish.

then refer to the poster above who said other departments require a fee if they take them home outside a predetermined area.

According to this argument last year:

quote:

In 1991, the parish had a policy that limited public take-home cars to the parish boundary lines, as Marcelle is recommending. But that was later changed to allow take-home vehicles outside the parish as long as it fell within a 24-mile radius from the geographic center of the city.

quote:

The 24-mile radius was put into place to make the take-home policy more equitable because some officers who live in nearby cities such as Port Allen, which is in West Baton Rouge Parish, were driving a shorter distance home than those who live in Zachary or Central but were still inside the parish lines.

The ones outside the radius who were grandfathered in to allow them take-home vehicles pay for gas past the 24-mile radius.

I don't think the council approved the proposed change last year.

I'm sure there are things they do that are more troubling than taking their car home at the end of the shift.

Also, learn how to quote. You've been here long enough to figure it out

Y'all demand good smart police officers and then complain when cities do things to try and attract good smart candidates to be officers. It's hard to recruit good candidates as it is

1. I worked for one of the largest depts in the country. We had to park our vehicles after shift. Unlike BRPD we actually did our job and not drive patrol cars in lakes off duty after drinking. Guess what my dept wrote the book on riot control and traffic control. What has BRPD done and I am still waiting. Our traffic division was larger than the all the brpd divisions put together.

Let's see what BRPD accomplished besides shooting dogs, wrecking a car in the lakes by LSU, harassing citizens inside the city, and giving a fired police officer with 15 years of service a retirement. Oh, Yeah if you thing you got traffic down I got 20 years on your gomer pyle officers in traffic divison. Everytime I think BRPD and traffic I hear banjos playing.

We also didn't wreck our motorcycle in another county costing tax payers of our city when the vehicle should never be outside the city.

My shift sgt put it this way to us and maybe the BRPD officers need to hear this daily!
IF YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU GET PAID THEN GO WORK ELSEWHERE!!! STOP BEING A BURDEN ON THE TAX PAYERS OF THE CITY YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO REPRESENT!!!

ps I love how all of EBRP's sewer user fees goes to pay these leaches salaries.

Why are you yelling at me? I'm not a cop.

You can't take the actions of a few and apply it to all of BRPR though. I'm sure whatever PD you worked for had their share of incidents.
