quote:

I want to … (ask) you to pray for this city and parish,” East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome said during Monday’s news conference. “We’re putting the work next to our faith.
Despite the numbers, I believe we can have divine intervention to assist our officers and move on the hearts of the men and women to stop this senseless crime and lawlessness.
I believe our prayer can bring crime to an end and resurrect safety in our community.”

quote:

Morse says that he believes proactive policing implemented by BRPD is helping. He notes that so far this year, there have been 734 felony arrests, 176 juvenile arrests, 306 guns seized and 15 homicide arrests. Of the 15 arrested for homicide, six have been juveniles.

This is very alarming considering last year nine juveniles were arrested for homicide in the total of 2023,” Morse said. “Our suspects and victims are not only increasingly familiar with one another, but they are getting younger and younger.”

Broome destroys BRPD then asks everyone to pray to make crime go away

I’ve been praying for a new mayor.
I think Broome had her shot.

These people will try ANYTHING outside of actual accountability for allowing the current "cultcha" and woke bullshite to fester and infect what used to be a pretty cool city.

39 murders in EBRP and March isn't even over. The 170 record might fall this year.

How can you embezzle money when prayer is free? She needs to take some tips from Latoya. Gotta be a crime summit in Europe somewhere?

EBR murder score was updated today. 39 through just less than 3 months. On track for 160 at that rate.

Summer of high bail and harsh sentencing is what is needed, but won't be done.

My dad told me that racist extraordinaire Ted James is running for mayor this time around.

He might actually be worse than Broome.

I can't really see BR ever electing a good mayor again.

Kip was kind of an anomaly. There aren't too many Southern, black Democrats that are essentially political moderates.

Let me make sure I'm straight on this. A mayor with absolutely ZERO experience in law enforcement disbands an entire BRPD division that has been taking illegal guns off the street in droves, rather than just canning the bad seeds in that division. 3 months later we are BLOWING through record homicide and shooting rates like there was no tomorrow and that very mayor asks for.... prayers.

IF that ain't enough, her hand picked chief, who came in criticizing Carl Dabadie for the actions of the officers under his command in 2016, RETIRED rather than face the same criticism about the actions of his officers in the Brave Cave. Extreme cowardice.

Elections have consequences. This is a TEXTBOOK case of that.

Sadly I agree with you.

I have a buddy who lives in Birmingham, AL who told me that their current mayor has made a lot of improvements to the city, particularly the downtown area. I always felt that Birmingham and Baton Rouge had a lot in common. If they can do it, why can't Baton Rouge?

Prayer is definitely working. Stops crime in its tracks.
