I'm looking to totally gut my bathrooms down to the studs and start over.

Can someone recommend a contractor or business in BR for this kind of project?

I'm trying to install frameless shower, freestanding tub, etc.

Go for a wet room with a rainfall shower head. Sorry, can't help with the people to do it.

I'm assuming this will be a bathroom for any gender identity.

just don't do like EVERYONE is with the walk around shower and prison-like white tiles. Install butcher block counters and tile and be the owner of an awesome 80s retro bath.

The best thing I did when we remodeled the bathroom is put in a 7' x 8' walk in shower with no door to have to clean. Just walk in. Figure it'll come in handy when I'm old and decrepit in my wheelchair. All tile, even the ceiling. I wouldn't worry much with body sprays. We put in body sprays, handheld, and rain can in the center of the ceiling. We NEVER use the body sprays. Also got a gas tankless water heater. It'll run nonstop for 59 minutes before cutting off. Go with Delta or Brizo faucets.

Most people's bathrooms are smaller than they think. Bring a tape measure and go look at the tubs and shower sizes you may be interested in. Measure them and write down the measurements.

Get a lot of newspaper and tape and make templates of the sizes you liked. Lay them out in your bathroom and see if you have room to do what you want.

Make a rough drawing and put in some dimensions. Take it to the guy you find and discuss your drawing with him. You doing your homework before speaking with him can help him and you come up with a solid plan on how to proceed.

In your rough drawing with dimensions, be sure and put where drains and water supplies are, with measurements.

Get three estimates.

Acadian Kitchen and Bath if you have the scratch. Not in the remote neighborhood of cheap but they have been worth it so far for the service and expertise. Of course I am only 30% done with the remodel. Get back to me when they finish for the full story.

I did mine for about $3500

Demo $500(I did myself)

Freestanding claw-foot with tub mount shower-package $1500(worth it, Vintagetub.com...you can still do another shower if you want)

floor tile= $500(Bath cost part of kitchen+bath Install)

pedestal sink =$150
Toilet=$150
Install Bath+sink+toilet=$700(re-pipe drain)

Walls=$13 for 4 lnft= ~$400
Paint=$60
Molding=$60

Quoted :$2500 for shower build and tiling.....$700-$1200 for frameless shower door....so the "shower" will cost you $4 grand regardless

Stephen Thompson contracting ...recommended by my mom's friend.

I'm currently doing this in my house.

We are using Russell Starkey. I did most of the demo work a couple of months ago and he got started about a month ago. We're waiting on tile and it's coming out nice.

We took our master bathroom, a guest bathroom, our living room, and a bedroom down to studs (the living room and that bedroom were paneling and I wanted drywall like the rest of the house).

The master bath had a huge old whirlpool tub that we removed and made that area into a roughly 4' x 8' walk-in shower (no door) with rain head, handheld, and a regular shower head. Have an 88" double vanity with a top cabinet to the ceiling. We installed quartzite countertops yesterday. Reconfigured the closets a bit. New lighting arrangement, moved one minor wall slightly to accommodate a bigger vanity. We installed some frosted glass French doors between the master bathroom and the master bedroom. New closet doors. Crown molding. And obviously new tile everywhere.

Hall bath, we removed a wall that divided the room and installed a new 60" vanity. Same countertops as master bathroom. Reconfigured electrical in there as well. We kept the old cast iron tub. New tile floors and tub surround going in shortly. Crown molding. New lighting.

Then the bedroom and living room were basically drywall, textures, finish work to accommodate the thicker drywall, crown molding, etc. a little bit of electrical work in the living room to rearrange some switches for future lighting in there.

So far, Starkey is doing an okay job and his subs are pretty decent. He's been good to work with and I'm anal as hell.

But like other posters said, get three bids, compare apples-to-apples and get ready to spend an assload of money.

ETA: Now that the project is done, I'm really disappointed in the quality of the job as it progressed. Oberall the project came out great, but it wasn't because of the oversight of the GC nor the quality of the work of the subs.

If I wasn't very on top of everything and continually keeping an eye on his subs, the job would have come out like shite. I had to go behind almost every sub and fix shite or do things that they neglected. It was an incredibly frustrating process.

I'll be subbing out my own job on my kitchen when I finally get to it.
