Headed to Barcelona in June. Any tips or advice in general? How about places to catch some local live music? Are the pickpockets really bad?

No, I could do better than that if I wanted to brag. I'm just looking for someone with some personal experience there. How else would I do it?

If you continue to head West on the beach you'll reach the gay part. If that's your thing..

Cocaine and beer are easy to score once the sun goes down.

Pretty cool place. Struggled with the language, and few knew English where I was, but you learn quickly. Beaches are clean, mostly topless. They aren't a shy people. Would love to go back...No problem with pick-pockets.

Don't worry about pick pockets really, but be smart and keep your wallet in your front pocket when traveling. Eat tapas while there. Look up places on trip advisor. If you get bored just hop on a bus and ride around- the city is awesome. Do one of those free walking tours. Literally the best bang for your buck when in any European city.

Do the Gaudi stuff - Sagrada Familia and also Parc Guell if it's nice out.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the info. We do want to see Sagrada Familia for sure. Would like to attend a mass somewhere. Will do the beach thing too. May take a day trip to Montserrat.

Casa Batilo was also fun tour as well.

Barcelona is one of the best cities to walk around and look at architecture...and when the sun goes down, there is plenty to do.

The metro system is top notch and you can get almost anywhere on it. Historic area is bad arse. Dali museum is cool. Anything related to Gaudi is worth seeing. There is restaurant with a view of the beach, seafood place that was good. We ate outdoors all over the city. Honeymoon 2010

Yep, did that, and the Olympic stadium, but liked the beaches and the night life the best. You will have a blast(to the OP)..

The place ROCKS!. Took the wife there last year. Had the best time ever and the beaches are littered with tits getting lots of sun.

Don't do drugs there. It is legal for locals to do weed right out in the open. If you do it its going to cost you some Euros. (Its their way to tax tourists).

Going in June means the med should be pretty warm, but it's no gulf coast so brace yourself if you are going to swim.

The food is great.

Beware though...the pickpocket problem is out of control. If you look like a tourist they will stalk you.

The subway is pretty stellar. You don't need cabs and shite like that...get a subway map and you are set.

I didn't have problems when I went 2 years ago, but I did watch a guy yank a gold necklace off a woman's neck in broad daylight.

Just be smart about it. Don't wear fancy jewelry out (or be wary of it), keep your stuff in your front pockets, and for women I suggest pickpocket-proof purses. They have reinforced straps since pickpockets would cut them, grab the purse and run off.
