JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Coast News is on the scene of a hostage situation at Community First Credit Union. Police are asking people around the area to stay inside as this is a very active and dangerous scene. The credit union is located at 1623 Edgewood Ave in a heavily commercial area. In a quick press conference, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says an initial call came in at 9:06 a.m. that stated there was a bank robbery in process. Police say following that first call there was a second call that stated there were shots fired. Police can not confirm if there was someone shot. Police said on Twitter that the suspect is armed with a handgun. At this time police are not sure of how many people are inside the credit union, though they say there are multiple hostages. A witness on scene tells First Coast News that she was in the credit union drive through when the robbery happened. The witness told us she saw multiple bank tellers walking through the building with their hands up. The woman said she knew something was wrong and immediately called 911. Police can not comment on any hostage negotiations at this time, although a hostage negotiators tells First Coast News that they will make a move once they learn hostages inside are in immediate danger. They are assessing the situation right now. No DCPS schools are currently on lockdown because the shooter is contained inside the bank. A mom of a credit union employee on scene is still waiting to hear about her 18-year-old son. She says his phone is going to voicemail and says she's nervous and terrified.

Robbing a bank isn't a smart decision in the first place, but doing so with a weapon is absolutely insane. Nearly every bank in the country will give you what you want if you wrote it on a post it note. A weapon is completely unnecessary in 2016.

Looks like SWAT moved in and there are reports that at least one employee's mother said her child in the bank is OK. Her son texted her.

Swat now walking out people from the bank. No injured in the line of folks walking it appears.

Perp is in custody now.

That glasses girl is Shelby Danielsen. She's cute but the glasses are helping.
