We used to take a sock and get it wet and put water bottles in them, then tie it to the side mirrors and after 10-15 minutes it didn't feel like we were drinking lava anymore.

That was a cruel joke. Boxes of free bottled water everywhere but the water was steaming hot.

Camp Doha could get muggy as shite. Arifjan and Udairi Range were much drier.

Yeah no kidding. To this day, most people I tell this to don't believe me, but the only way to survive the daytime was to cover all of your skin. Long sleeves/pants >>>>> exposed skin. At night it would be like 90 degrees and we'd practically be shivering lol.

Yowza! That's about 35 degrees hotter than what we've been experiencing in southern LA the past two weeks. Just think about that for a minute.

Baghdad is humid as frick. There are two big arse rivers all around it. Not south LA humid, but it's on par with Central LA.

Completely incorrect. The dewpoint (the measure of moisture in the air a.k.a. humidity) was 90 degrees. Never in recorded history has it been that humid in Louisiana.

LOL, it's like everyone doesn't understand that heat indices factor in humidity and wind. I live in Houston, lived in New Orleans, and it's hot as frick right now. I feel like I walk outside into a fricking hair dryer and walking into a work or a house is akin to sticking my head in the freezer but the heat index hasn't gotten over 115 or so. If 159F is a valid heat index, we aren't even in the same stratosphere. How could you possibly compare?

In Kuwait or Iraq? Kuwait has landscaped trees around Kuwait City and parts of the coast. The rest of the country is a total wasteland. Iraq has much more variety.

Have you spent time in Baghdad? If you have, did you spend time on patrols? If not, shut the frick up.

True story.

Used to get IV's all the time after missions. B12 used to help also.

You're obviously entitled to your own opinion, but for what it's worth I'm not just randomly throwing that out there. I was in country as well. It was certainly hotter there obviously, but it wasn't nearly as humid. Our thermometers (which could have been off I don't know) regularly recorded mid 130s during the summer.

It's just that the sweat won't evaporate here. You get all sticky and soaked way faster in a humid climate Imo and that's more miserable.

I can pretty much guarantee you didn't experience a 90 degree dewpoint. That's actually the most amazing thing about this whole scenario to me as a meteorologist... it just doesn't happen... and it would mean exactly what you said about Louisiana heat, but with less hyperbole.
Sweat wouldn't evaporate and that's on top of it being ~10 degrees hotter than it's ever been in the state of Louisiana.
