Bachelor trip in Austin

We are looking at house rentals in Austin and around Lake Travis. However there is a city ordinance that states no more than 6 unrelated adults may dwell in a residence even for short term. Also, for each additional guest over 6 people, they are adding a $50 or $100 fee.
Does anyone have experience with these rentals? How closely do they monitor the number of people staying? Could we get away with a few stowaways to keep from getting butt fudged on the rates?
Any other must see places and strip clubs are appreciated.
TIA

That's weird. We used AirBnb for a recent bachelor trip there with more than 6 adults and there wasn't an extra fee that I recall.
And we had a blast.
And we had a blast.

They don't monitor that at all
If I can find this place on the end of 6th streets contact info I'll send it to you. Three stories, slept like 20 people, had a rooftop patio, and the owner took me to the liquor store to stock the bar before everyone else arrived. It was a perfect set up for a bachelor party.

I would recommend staying in Austin and just driving to the lake

This.
And from what I've heard, the 6 person limit is not monitored at all, and most owners of rental properties don't care.

Awesome.. Thanks. We are trying to book near downtown so we are in the middle of it all. Tried the lake house and got rejected but the email was sent to the rental property manager. We are just gonna say it's 6 and hopefully it all works out.

For sure, we rented a boat with a driver one day and he took is to this packed cove area full of people around our age (mid-late 20's). It was a blast but I would not want to do it for longer than an afternoon.
Being walking distance to popular areas downtown is prob the most crucial part of doing a bachelor party in Austin. It was so easy to not have to cab everywhere as a massive group, some people would go hit the bars early and others would hang back at the house to drink for a bit longer

Rainey St. for a more laid back atmosphere. West 6th for a bit wilder scene, but still under control. Dirty 6th for thirsties/vulnerables.
Have fun

Nice man. I see your moral fiber is not very strong. These fees are set for a reason. They help stimulate the economy, but I see you would rather save a buck than to follow the regulations of the state.

I'd like that, too. I'm setting a trip up and it'll be roughly 15 people. We were going to do Lake Travis, but maybe we'll just do Austin and do a day at the lake instead.

Does Lake Travis even have water in it? Been awhile since I've been there, but last I saw it was pretty much dry.
Assuming the rainy season this year filled it back up?

Not back to "normal" levels, but I saw some pics after the rainy season and the water was much, much higher than in the past few years.

We will be stimulating the hell out of the economy, but we certainly don't want to be ripped off. And yes, our moral fiber will be stretched thin on a bachelor party. That's the point. Thanks for being a buzzkill. You probably have never been invited in a bachelor party so I understand your angst.

Preferred strip club is the Pink Monkey.
Thank me later.

gracias
To the guy about stimulating the economy...how is having a 10,000 sq foot house, yet you don't let more than 6 people stay there without paying out their arse, stimulating the economy? That's called being ripped off.
OP, when are you planning on going to Austin?

That's code for "No college kids" or "No one under 29". It's like a dress code at a bar. It's just to keep out the people they want to keep out without having it be discrimination.
As far as Austin goes....6th Street sucks arse.

Haha. Pretty sure he was trolling. He won't ruin my good time. We will be there March 17-20
We plan to:
-hit hiking and bike trails (a lot of us have bikes)
-disc golf
-day on the lake, renting a pontoon boat
-UT baseball game vs Tulane
-SXSW is that weekend (not that we care... Mostly outdoor guys, not big music people)
-going to Punch Bowl Social at the Domain
-Rainey st
-Strip clubs
-lots and lots of drinking
The rest is up in the air. And to the other poster, we are all 30+ so we fit the criteria even though we act like teenagers hopped up on cocaine when we all get together. Should be fun. Someone is definitely getting arrested.

I just had a bachelor party in Austin, and we stayed in Austin Proper (12 guys). Check vrbo for the best options. Also, message me if you want the house we stayed in.

Yup. That would be fantastic.
